So I have a question about the new Citadels coming out. If they are going to replace towers and in the process get rid of forcefields where does the Rorqual stand? If you can't put that sucker into siege mode behind a forcefield then you are piloting your own coffin. Will the Rorqual meet its demise with the Citadels? Or does CCP have something in store for the indy giant that will see to its safety when boosting?

Towers aren't being removed any time soon and the entire concept of boosting is getting reworked, as well. Worrying about this is premature.

Fozzie said they're looking at the Rorq already and that the rebalance hammer will hit it.... soonTM. With new roles and the ability to be effective when deployed and commited to the field belt.

The last thing they SWAGGED and it was a SWAG was that a rorqual in the belt could go into siege and put a forcefield around itself and all the mining barges until help arrives

In reality, pos won't go away until all functions have been duplicated plus swap time, so figure 2018ish

They've been looking at the Rorqual long enough:

Fanfest 2014
Fanfest 2015

Though the Fanfest 2015 ideas he mentioned are positively horrible, but were repeated at EVE Vegas.

On the bright side, there will be skill extractors.
