NPC Scram buff?

Sorry been away for a while.

Found myself in a strange and vulnerable position just now. During a leg of wild fire arc i had about 10 gisti frigates non-stop scram/web. I wasn't quite sober enough to manage my drones and salvage at the same time so they died.

The frigates couldnt hurt me at all but I could not leave? I could hit the bastion to cut the ewar but every single time I would try and warp out i was scrammed again. forever .. and ever .. no letty go at all while not in bastion.

Is the whole perma scram thing new? I remember they would eventually let go long enough to warp off but not this group.

p.s. ended up paying a nice guy to come in and draw them off eventually so i survived the event.

mjd - pop those feckers first.

this isnt new behaviour but the drone agro seems more aggressive imo

It has been a long while since I recall any NPC "losing" point in a manner which mimics cap issues or so forth (suggesting an RNG's involvement) - to the point that I'm not sure I recall it ever being that way...
I have recollections of rats losing point in situations where I have otherwise been unable to do anything about them (possibly I'd warped out earlier, leaving my drones behind, and forgotten to restock, possibly one of those missions where the vast amount of ECM means it's all but impossible to take out tacklers) but everything I can (vaguely) remember comes down to range instead - I have been aligned and after a period of travel the NPCs (despite still red-boxing) turn around and fly back towards their initial spawn, eventually allowing a warp-out...

It is worth noting that NPCs don't scram (AFAIK) and so using an MJD to put space between you and them is a viable option - even if you have no way to kill them (Torp Golem for example) you can align out, hit your MJD and then 100km later spam warp. It will take them a little while to catch up.

Right yes a MJD would have done the trick and is what i'll be using again from now on. I stuck an AB in the slot for the arc as theirs quite a bit of powering around picking up various keys and such.

Anyways .. lesson learned, luckily without losing a ship :)

I had the impression if you slowboat far enough away from their spawn point they eventually give up and go home but how far is far enough is another issue altogether.

Especially in a BS, it's always advisable to bring an MDU and MJD just for such a reason. You could also bring some sacrificial EWAR drones to draw aggro for a brief moment, since elite frigs seem to love EWAR drones and a lot of them are T1 so are cheap losses (EC-300 and SW-300 drones seems to do the trick well enough). Just make sure you align first, they will die quickly once tacklers swap targets. Only had to do that last trick once, but it worked like a charm and saved me a Paladin.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Pop light drones wait for frigs to scram drones instead of you, warp and recover drones. Used to do this to get past a certain 10/10 while leaving all rats ups.

Couldn't hurt, as long as you are considering using a mobile fitting depot, to try something else too. Equip short-range guns (pulse, blasters), one tracking computer scripted for tracking speed, a target painter, and a web (since you get diminishing returns from any one thing, you get the best return by using one each). Lock them up, mow them down.
