Unable to train Command Ships 5 after next patch?

If you had Command Ships to 4 before the patch hit that required you to have leadership skills trained to plug it in and you still have Command Ships 4, will you still be able to plug in the skill after the next patch if you don't have the newly required leadership skills trained?

Not today spaghetti.

Yea. If you were 'grandfathered' into a ship, you will still be able to fly it, you won't be able to train up it's core skill until those prereqs are finished. So if you have Command Ships 4 and lack the leadership skills that are the prereqs, then you are stuck at command ships 4 until you finish those skills.\

That's how I understand it anyways.

Edited for typos.

Agree with Jenn, but you can create a support ticket with this question to get an authoritative answer from CCP.

No I can still use train it now. I'm wondering if this will change next patch though?

That's what I mean, after the next patch, not right now.

It was explained on Reddit that if you start training now and never open your skillqueue after the patch it will continue training.

The valid check for if you can train something is performed at the time you hit 'apply' so just start it and leave it to completion. But do it before patch day.

If you have Command Ships at 4 and wish to train it to 5 without training the prerequisites, you'll need to start the training before the patch and then do not pause (including for jump clones) or change your skill queue for any reason after the patch until it completes. I'm not sure whether plugging in implants would trigger the prerequisite check.

I'm pretty sure plugging in implants would trigger the pre-requesit checks as you have to pause skill training to plug them in; but dont quote me on it.

I expect to get this post deleted or locked. So much for freedom of expression.

You don't have to pause training to plug in implants.

Right. What I'm not sure about is whether it triggers the prerequisite check by stopping and restarting the queue behind the scenes.

what? behind the scenes we're losing seconds of training time. the Horror! Shocked hahahahaha RollBig smile

If the queue is paused and restarted when plugging in implants then anyone who has a queue that includes a skill without its prerequisites met won't be able to plug in implants and restart training without removing the offending skill(s).

There was back in 2013 and people were grandfathered in if they could already fly them under the previous skill requirements, so they didn't need the prerequisites (all the leadership (not specialization) skills).

With the new system, you wont be able to inject or train further skills where you don't have the prerequisites. This will have a large effect on the Command Ships skill because you'll need to train the leadership skills first.
