Remote Sensor Dampening Question

Hai :3

I have a question regarding RSDs. Do they work like tracking disruptors and hit every time? Or do the work like jamers and only hit sometimes? In a solo pvp situation, would it me more beneficial to use 3 RSDs, even though they dont stack well, to increase the chances of dampening my opponent?

They work like Tracking Disruptors; 100% chance to hit in optimal range with lower and lower chances to hit once in falloff range.

Do understand that Remote Sensor Dampeners do consume a non-insignificant amount of capacitor. So if you want to fit multiple RSDs on a frigate (or even a cruiser) you may have to fit some kind of capacitor mod (like a Cap Booster).

EWAR for NEWBIES!

as mentioned, inside your optimal, they will ALWAYS operate at full effect. No random number generators to worry about.

As for your solo PvP question: it depends on your opponents lock range and how powerful your damps are. If two RSDs can get you into position to keep them tackled while they're unable to lock you, then two is fine. If not you need a third. We'd need a little more info, or some hypothetical scenarios, in order to properly answer that question.

As a 'general answer', you generally need two hull bonused damps on someone to damp them down to under Point range, three damps gets you into hull-bonused Scram range (eg: a Keres can use three damps on an Orthrus to be able to hold scram on them without the Orthrus being able to lock the Keres up. With two damps, the Keres can point the Orthrus outside of that Orthrus' lock range)
