Not really. It's just in place to prevent people from spamming the other forums with "disposable" accounts.

There are restrictions on trial accounts because otherwise it would cost nothing to create a lot of spam on the forums.

As mentioned, the rule is to prevent trial account cycling spam.

If they would lift that, boy, THEN I feel really sorry for the ISDs

The forums went through a period of MASSIVE amount of spam.

The spammers would just switch to new trial accounts.

Restricting the number of forums, greatly reduces the forums that have to be actively moderated.

Posting time delay was also added to combat the spammers.
