It is just me, or is everyone else finding that the Macintosh Singularity client runs into errors while starting?

Same here. Sometimes it raises the exception with the initial splash screen, sometimes not. It never gets as far as the login screen. I've tried patching and downloading the full client. Also tried renaming the Eve Online folder in application support so it had to start clean and it still won't start.

Client version: 330650
OS: 10.6.8 with all updates

We are aware of this and are looking into what is causing it, for some odd reason it doesn't happen in the dev environment.

I'm also on Mac OS 10.6.8. Build 330764 didn't fix it, unfortunately.

Is there some sort of error log we would be able to retrieve, or some way of starting the Sisi client from Terminal, that would help you track down the problem?

Bug reports are always appreciated, but this particular issue is very wide ranging and easy to reproduce internally. Usually bug reports are most useful when an issue is difficult to reproduce or only affects certain hardware setups. What I meant by 'doesn't happen in dev environment' is that it only affects the built client that is meant for public consumption while the raw development environment client starts up just fine.

we found the cause of this last night. this build contains a visual studio 2010 upgrade and it's 1-2 features within that we use that isn't supported in the cider engine. the reason it wasn't happening in the dev env was simply because we had the needed microsoft runtimes in the folder, which the dev build defaulted to using.

details are with our friends at transgaming and hopefully we can get this fixed fairly soon. once we have more details or information i (so someone) will update this thread.

it's probably worth noting that i'm going to make tweaks to the dev env for the mac so it wont have the microsoft runtimes and this problem will be spotted sooner and easier to identify which code changelist is the offender.

Woot! Congratulations on finding the problem! Big smile

I suppose it's perfectly expected, then, that the issue persists in Build 331473, since Transgaming still has to perform arcane magics on Cider or some such thing.

Well this is neat. Not only is this still an issue (understandably, since it's only been a few days since the last post), but I have four duplicates of the game which are now getting this error after only running the patch once...

... fantastic

I was hoping to spend my weekend re-downloading the client Ugh

Issue persists, Build 332249.

Presumably, until Transgaming fixes this or until CCP writes new code to get around this issue, the Mac Sisi client isn't going to work.

Personally, I'd really like to be able to play around with the new NeoCom. Do you know how many features start with the NeoCom? Do you know how many times I say "NeoCom" on the EVE University Mumble when telling somebody where to find something? The NeoCom is something I like to be familiar with. P

Anyway, CCP has told us what the problem is, all we can do is wait for them to tell us when it's fixed.

Build 332799, Mac Sisi client now starts up in fullscreen. However, if I try to switch it to windowed mode (via the Escape menu), the EVE Online window gets filled with a screenshot of my desktop. Music continues playing, but the client becomes unusable. I'll file a bug report on this later.

Workaround: Copying my "EVE Online TQ1" folder in Application Support, renaming it to "EVE Online Sisi1", and configuring it for Singularity seems to work fine. It still started in fullscreen, but Command-Return put it into windowed mode just fine. I don't know if the two different methods of going into windowed mode (Escape menu versus Command-Return) have anything to do with it.
