I have decided to come to the forums for help. I am a fairly new player, and probably an oddity. i like to mine with my friend. we split it 50-50, i have a covetor, he is in a miasmos. imine, he picks it up, drops it off. then, we split it, haul it back to jita, and sell it. there is a third and fourth corpsmate who didnt make it yesterday

or, that was the plan. until we discovered the most disheartening thing

it worked well for the base ores in high sec, until we get the skills/social connections to move out into low or null sec. well, i unlocked ice mining yesterday, and we started out to ice mine. he knew about dotlan, hes god with the tactics stuff, so he looked up a place to go, and we slowly set off. we arrived to the spawn late, but it was up when we got there out of random luck. it was sunday, and we both have several hours to play. now, hes a tactics dude, he pointed out immediately 8 mackinaws, an orca, and roraqual that appeared to all be one dude.

he said he added them, and they all logged out consecutively. then, as soon as the next ice appeared, they all logged in consecutively again, warped to the ice spawn, and started to mine it. i checked the bios, it appears to all be the same dude. the bios all say something like

Cake is a lie!

Most convo's are SPAM or SCAMS!

If I don't know you, don't convo me.
You will be rejected And BLOCKED.
Only this toon is new to eve.

or

I am a meat popsickle.
Dont take it personal !
I dont talk in Local !
If I dont know you I may reject your convo.

so, one guy, on ten accounts, warps in one the high sec ice spawns and nabs most of it, then logs off.

eve is not a game of fairness, by any means. it is instead a game by which the players determine the "rules to the game". i think if you have 10 accounts, you need to be in null sec, not mining the ice asteroids from high sec. so, i have heard of "CODE", do i "snitch" lol? is he a bot? how do i tell? miner bumping? i dont think we can gank all these macks, and i bet they are all maxed out with like 99999999hp anyway with 99% resis.

as a couple of people starting out, it was just a real bummer to be psyched to think we were going to come up to an asteroid where there was lots of people mining, as everyone starts out nice mining diff ones, as they pop, ppl start to get competitive. instead, its one dude, 10 accounts. i feel like that excessive. i can understand the average 2, MAYBE 3 accounts, but using 4, 5, or more, you need an intervention. and to not be mining ice asteroids in high sec!

we know realistically there is more then enough ice for him and us, but, he is equal to about 20 of us i bet with boosts and what not. so, theres room for 50 players like me and my friend, but not enough room for 2 or 3 of guys like him. can we "push him out", and how?

Just move to a different system...there are plenty to choose from...

It sounds plausible enough tonight, but wait until tomorrow. Wait for the common sense of the morning.

IDK if boting is still a thing but a guy that won't answer convos sounds like he could be a bot.

To the OP this stuff that you complain about is high sec problems. If you want to mine ice go to null sec. There is such a thing as NRDS null sec where you don't even need to hold sov. You just need to learn to be decent with the locals and learn how to differentiate between threats and friendlies.

sound like someone need mercenaries to muscle the competition out.

yes mercs are a real thing in eve

fyi if you cant do something in eve you can generally pay someone else to do it for you.

Lots of folks taking in here about ganking and mercs. Sounds like your competition is on carebear in 10 ships. A wardec would probably cripple him for a week. You could go the extra bit by using locators to find him and then sending out of corp cloaky alts to find where they are and get a specified distance from them in the opposite direction of the gate that you will be entering. Then warp at range to the alt and right on top of the barges as soon as you enter system.

You can also use watchlist feature to see when they log on.

This could be a fun experiment for you guys. Who knows maybe you come out of this becoming full time mercs yourselves.

If you ask CODE. for help, you must make sure you (and your friends) are compliant and have mining permits, or you may find that you're the ones who lose their ships instead.

this thread is a prime example of what makes eve a great game <3

we talked, and decided he could outspend us, and if we alerted code to where we are at, we would obviously be on their "watch list", and being code compliant doesnt guarantee anything so id would rather keep my isk and run then pay to stay and die. we use literally the cheapest things we can haha, trying to earn that plex to play for freeeeeeee!!!!!!

he is in npc corps, so the wardec wont work, but he can wardec the corps me and my friends are in. with 9 mackinaws, i might start a Gofundme to hire the mercs, im sure they would be REALLY pricey to gank his whole op.

we decided the best option would be to send him a message, asking him nicely to limit his activity to half the accounts, 3 miners 2 leaders max. if he wont, we will do our best to "burn it down". find another place on dotlan, call code, hire mercs, and maybe even get our hands dirty ourselves!

my friend did mention that by adding him, at least we know when the ice spawn is up! haha!

Two things:

Getting into null sec is not all that difficult. It is probably way way way easier than you think.

Second trying to pay for game time with isk when you have limited ability to make said isk can turn the game into a job.

If you guys want to fight these guys or hire mercs or what ever you want to do then do so. However if all that you are looking for is ice to mine then go to null sec. I have no dog in this race so I'm not trying to talk you into anything just laying out your options as I see them:

-The gank option could be fun and educational.

-The merc. option is a temporary solution to a permanent problem and since you are not directly involved most likely much less fun.

-The null sec option avoids the drama and gets you the ice.

of those options the only one that I have any experience at and therefore the only one that I can offer direct advice is the null sec one. If you have questions send me an in game mail and I'll set up a chat session with you.

Guy's not technically a bot, but rather probably a greedy multi-boxer. Asking him to be reasonable will do absolutely nothing. Those people are all too common in ice belts, unfortunately. Because ice is used to make POS fuel, sometimes multi-box operations like that are corporations sucking up ice to fuel their things. Most likely, however, it's someone being rude and inconsiderate.

Doesn't hurt to report him as a bot and let CCP figure it out.

Otherwise, yeah it's not fair; you're playing a game the way you enjoy it, he's turning it into a job, probably in order to pay for his accounts with PLEX. You can try to interfere with his operation; but options are limited in high-sec because you'd be "attacking an innocent," and also because as a newbie and as a miner you can't yet fly some of the fun ships (like the new T2 command destroyers that can kick his mining ships 100km away from the ice).

exactly, cause their is another guy in another thread that has his rorq stuck in a tough spot and im sure going through high sec would solve a lot of his issues atm.

Op: i would just move to a different location. Ice spawns are plentiful in Eve. Also as it was suggested you could possibly go to NRDS null( unless your corpmates got on the red list) and mine ice till you cant see straight.

Suicide ganking anything but the orca ( which is likely what the rorqual is in your post) will have minimal Impact on him. And even that would probably just be a small thorn.

He covers all his bases to make sure its nearly impossible to affect his mining ops. He probably been perfecting it for years.

well, he laid off when i went there next, but a few days later when me and my friend could mine again, hes back, doing what he does.

i guess ill call code, and leave. code doesnt want 10 man ror op runnign around mining everything out of high sec, nor do i. so, the enemy of my enemy is my friend....

Quite a few of these multibox guys are not even genuine players they are paid a pittance in some third world country to login and mine.

The PLEX system helps to mitigate gold farming but ti does not eliminate it completely.

There are LOTS of systems in EVE.

Rule of thumb: find a system with less people in local than asteroid belts.

One system where I buy ice has an active belt seemingly 23/7 as it is always there whatever hour I visit.

Pause training, spend a day training an alt to fly a catalyst. Contact code and ask if you can join them (they're usually the-more-the-merrier when it comes to ganking things). New experiences are what make EVE interesting. Then you can keep track of the situation first-hand, and once the targets stop logging in CODE will get bored and go away and you can resume your activities.

Wait.. The guy had an Orca, Rorq, and 8 Mack's at a Belt.. In Low Sec? Private message me the location and all the pilots names, rough log in times and log out times, number of friendlies/Corpies in Local when he does it, and I will make sure he never goes to that Ice Belt again.
