my alt has 960k unallocated SP

Before I started playing this game with a new character in September, I had played for a bit back in 2009. I just logged onto that old alt for the first time yesterday and discovered it has 960k unallocated SP (with another 4 million SP trained).

So what's the most useful type of alt? I probably won't play that character much, but I'd like to put its SP towards something practical and useful. Someone told me I should train a blockade runner alt, but I know nothing about industry or freight.

Anyone have a better suggestion?

Exactly why you should consider training a hauler alt.
You want to train pretty much the opposite of what your main does. (unless you are a miner by trade)
It will let you stay focused with your main, and still give you a useful pilot to do other things with.
What you don't want, is 2 pilots that do the same exact thing.

In the big picture of EVE, that 960k skill points isn't a huge decision.
Having 2 accounts that do opposite activities will let you experience twice the stuff in half the time.

The most useful type of alt depends on how you play the game on your main account, are you a trader, do you play in null sec ? It's hard to say what type of alt you need without knowing that.

That's a lot of free SP. I wish I saved mine over the times.

blockade runner alts are super useful if your in lowsec and cant go into highsec because pirate reasons, cyno/scout alt is also another great alt, what you want to do is basically have alts for things that you would usually ask other to provide for you so you can eventually do everything yourself
