Congrats to ArmyOfMe!

Despite a long break some of us old school are still around.
Original since 2006....times change....the good folks and players don't.

Rust Never Sleeps Pirate

**Forgot to mention....negotiated a 150m ISK ransom yesterday. Probably not a lot for most folks...but hey....another in a LONG list of happy satisfied customers.

I have been around a little while longer and can truly say it is the only game I have come back to again and again. And that is an achievement.

Having been around a lot of MMO's in my time I can also say we do often look back at "old" times as being better on most games. I have very fond memories of Dark Age of Camelot and even World of Warcraft, mostly from when they where new. And that is because they are just that, new, and that sense of wondermeant and excitement still exists.

Anyway must get back to being bitter....

Well, not everything used to be better back in the day, but i do indeed miss the days when ppl were mining in low sec in battleships (was a great time to be a pirate). And i do miss the days when there was no warp to 0 and not to mention how much i hate jumpfreighters and how much easier they have made life.

Oh, and i really really really hate that you can fix your sec by buying tags, which has made sure that there are no real penaltys to being a pirate.

But for the most part i would say the game is much better these days then what they once were.

Pirates were... real pirates. They'd make you sing a song, answer riddles, or pay a ransom. Now, you just get shot.
Beam fitted caracal was SUPREME
Torp fit on frigates
Frigates could fit dual MWDs and do 90km/s+

ahhhh the good old days. When you could form an alliance and actually go out and conquer some null......

Yes. New gamers do not have attention span to accomplish anything. All corp and alliance names are pure crap nowadays. Goons really did turn this game into big pile of ****.

2003 ftw.. even if only just.

The changes have been epic, I can't give CCP enough credit for what they have done with eve, my only wish is they spent the RL isk from WoD and other projects on advertising and got some new blood here.

I can count on one hand the amount of original friends I have from when I started that are still in game which does make me sad, finding new content for myself can be hard as I really have done most things in Eve now, at least I should say all the things I find fun (never did understand PI!)

When goons first formed they went for syndicate, they attacked in frigs against my 3rd front alliance brothers, we fought them back, signed a nap and myself brokered some of the relations to the then leader of goons, remedial (sp?)

I used to log in on a sunday with 8k players on peak times and think wow, that's a crapton of people!!

Lead 2 alliances, reached 100bil isk milestone, 200milsp milestone, owned a supercap, flown in alliance tournaments, owned a tournament cruiser, lived in WH space, 0.0 space, low sec space, was part of the original privateers - causing havoc to all alliances being at war with almost all of null eve and forced CCP war dec changes, was one of the top 200 posting players on the old Eve-o, got ganked by MoO corp, built my own first carrier from ratting loot, before alliances, before caps, before pos flying around in my cruise fitted kestrel.

Give me some content suggestions fellow old timers.

Do you honestly think giving a freighter a dc would damage this game in any way?

Just curious why you pretend to be some kind of hardened nullsec/lowsec player but call for a Freighter buff like an ordinary Highsec carebear.

Quite simple really. I see a freighter worth 1b(ish) that can be ganked by a few dessies as just an unbalanced feature as the svipul is atm. And something that is hurting new player retention, and i want more new players to stay in this game. The correlation between price of ship ganked (freighter) and cost of the dessies is out of proportion in my eyes.

Which is why i have advocated for suicide ganks to become more costly (and no, i dont want it removed from the game at all, but atm its the risk/reward for flying a freighter is out of wack), and why i have been wanting new players to start with more of the core skills trained up to 5 so they can start focusing directly on ships/weapons/production or whatever the heck they wanna branch out into, without having to spend months training up engineering/armor/shield and electronics skills to be usefull.

Yeah, all those new players flying freighters, it would be a shame if they all quit. Instead of insulting everyone by bringing the "new player" "argument", why don't you tell us the real reason for this? You are too lazy to defend your stuff even if you have a invincible, all knowing, 100% deadly NPC police on your side. So you want some more buffs to your playstyle so you don't have to put effort into the game. I mean It takes a whole fleet to kill a Freigher but you think you should be able to fly it solo without support and without risk?

A "few" dessies can kill a carrier if th carriers pilot doesn't take any steps towards keeping it alive. Isk is not and should not ever be considered a tank stat.
