I have a question concerning the new launcher.

Is it possible to just update the launcher or does the installation of the new launcher require a complete re-install of the full EVE-client? If the latter is the case, I will be hesitant to make the install as long as the old launcher is still working.

Futhermore, a guide how to install the new launcher would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

You can download it from here Download Eve

This is the new launcher. You do not require a complete fresh install, just download from above link and install it (the new launcher). You should be prompted to import your settings across and you are right to go!

Ok. Thank you.

I will give it a try.

I installed the launcher and client fresh on a new machine and they work great. I liked the new launcher and tried installing it on another machine that already had an older version of the launcher installed. The install appears to finish, the final dialog comes up with the run now box checked, I click Finish and the dialog goes away, then nothing. Task Manager shows evelauncher.exe running with around 5MB of memory and no CPU or other activity. I have left it this way for hours and no difference. I uninstalled and removed all of the Eve related folders I could and tried repeatedly with the same results every time. I am running Windows 10.

I end up with C:\EVE containing a Launcher folder with the Launcher files and folders under it. A SharedCache folder that is empty. And 7 other files in the root of this folder. The folder C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\Launcher has launcherlog-*.txt files that are 0 length.

What other information can I supply to help troubleshoot this?

Could you try installing the latest dev version from here:

http://binaries.eveonline.com/EveLauncher-1000300.exe

I've added some logging and shuffled some things around in the initialization to hopefully get some useful info out of the logs. Please send me the log files in EVE mail.

Thanks for your help in tracking down this issue!

I just logged in and found two red blocks partially covering things I would otherwise have wanted to see telling me that my login was no good. I logged into both accounts and the red blocks didn't leave. I hovered over them and saw now X, so I minimized the launcher and then refocused it. Still red blocks reminding me that I had at some point had invalidated logins. So I clicked on them. They went away.

Now I know to click on obtrusive notices to make them go away. Fine enough, but can you make it so that when something tells me to correct an issue, and I correct it, that it stops telling me to correct the issue that I've already addressed?

Keep up the good work. The old launcher is so bad.

Seeing this a second time it occurred to me that why am I re-logging in at all? I checked the warned-against Save My Password box. Shouldn't the client have saved my password and logged me back in? Or does the fact that I had to log in again mean that it didn't in fact save my password the way it frequently does?

It would be great to have the latest news like in the previous client (i.e. a list of all the news and not just the last one).

Couldn't resist to try your 1000300.exe version, mr Snorlax.

For the first time, I saw a small interface with progress of
a download of a previous version.

That in itself was already a happy occasion.

After completion of the download, it starts counting down towards
the next update. I let it count to 0 and then the background task
was started without any further feedback whatsoever.

So something changed, but the end result is still the same. If
I can do anything to get this show back on the road, please let me
know.

I submitted a trouble ticket about a week ago and still haven't received a response.
I installed Eve to a desktop- more ram, better CPU, etc..
The launcher opens but the game won't start.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling versions of the launcher but the same problem occurs.
A second window tab appears on the bottom bar next to the launcher bar. It has the Eve E symbol inside against a huge white background when I hover the cursor over it.
If I wait long enough it will say "Not responding". If I click on it it will automatically transition to "Not responding".

I've dug down into the files and tried the .exe and get nothing.
I'm running Win 7Ultimate and others who play in my Corp use the same without issues.

I've uploaded repair logs and bug logs to the trouble ticket but, again, no one has bothered to follow up with me.

Does anyone use the trouble ticket system for issues still or should I go through the forums to get a response instead?

I enjoy the game but playing on this crappy laptop doesn't cut it.

I like this new launcher, coming from someone who'd been harshly critical of the old launcher Evil
The built-in logging/network diagnostic tool is a good addition that ensures problem ticket consistency and minimum hassles for the player. The rest of the features are just icing on the cake.
Thus far, this new launcher has been smooth with zero hiccup. It's a good sign.

My feedback:
1. A short step-by-step knowledge base for transitioning from the old launcher should be pro-actively created to help the less IT literate crowd.

2. Background download for Singularity/Dualty etc should be made highly VISIBLE. A simple green bar isn't explicit enough. It leaves the crowd guessing.

3. The launcher locks the shared cache files when it does background download (I had the DL everything enabled), any login attempts coughed up file permission error. If intended, it ought to be error trapped and launcher should grey out any logins and pop out an info msg to remind players to wait until the background DL finishes.

4. The server switching is at an odd unintuitive place in the upper left. It isn't readily apparent to a first time user that you could switch servers from that panel. Imo, it should go into the left vertical panel and assigned an icon. The server ticker e.g. Tranquility Online 16,714 could then be placed top center (near or above the login window) as a simple text panel and enlarged.

5. There should be a "Profile Management" tab under settings. Managing profile is currently too convoluted by requiring a login and passwd.

6. Top right "E" button is an oddity that's feels out of place. Why not keep it consistent with the Neocom "E" placement ingame ... or at the very least, the icon should be swapped for the standard cog wheel icon.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the new launcher, and thank you for those suggestions.

The first one is already in the works, and we'll take the other suggestions under consideration.

I tell you what I thought: 'Let's install the latest OS X version and see what happens.'

Installed it, works, your launcher is happy, so am I. Big smile

However, your way of communicating my Bug Report as well as your silent changing of the version number on the download page is not quite what I expect from you. The least thing could have been a short note like 'Thanks for finding the typo.' That is not Customer Service V. But that's just me.

I'm glad to hear the launcher works now.

Here's what I commented on the bug report:

My apologies, the text on this page is inconsistent. If you look below in System Requirements the minimum listed is OS X 10.9.
I'll make sure the text there is updated to accurately reflect our system requirements.

I appreciate you bringing this to my attention, and I'm sorry if you feel our service is not as it should be.

For the last couple of days TQ status (online, offline, number online) in the launcher is not present.

My opinions are mine.

  If you don't like them or disagree with me that's OK.- - - - - - Just don't bother Hating - I don't care

It really is getting harder and harder to justify $23 a month for each sub.

Are you running the dev version? We're changing the implementation of this, so the dev version may be broken in this regard at the moment. Switching back to the release version should resolve the issue.

EDIT: Never mind, I'm seeing this now as well on the release version - investigating.

Might also want to explore the creation of a built-in launcher tool that measures the cache* performance on players' computers, either standalone or as part of the diagnostic suite if this wasn't already thought of earlier. Fairly common complaints that I read on the forum after the DoD change are slow program starts. I wouldn't rule out that even some of the socket closed issues could relate to cache performance (especially if client is under high utilization).

Bottomline, with the baseline reference available, it should help in narrowing issues down to either code or client hardware or both.

Hello folks,

I don't have multiple accounts, but was interested in the new launcher as an easy means of logging into SISI to try Project Discovery. So i downloaded the 'post-beta' version via http://community.eveonline.com/support/download (launcher 998442).

The Win7 install placed the new launcher right there in C:, and then i figured out via the pulldown Server List that it had ostensibly begun to migrate data to the respective servers folders, TQ and SISI. When that was finished, and thinking all was done, I logged into TQ to discover that many crucial saved ingame settings were entirely omitted: overviews, market quickbar, hangar settings and the like.

I was very relieved to find that the new install hadn't changed the original (in the Program Files (x86) folder), and that all my laboriously configured settings were right where i left them when logging in using the original launcher.

Now I noted but didn't configure anything available via the new Shared Cache and Client Settings tabs. Is this where I'll be able to haul over all my original data?

I appreciate what you're aiming for with the new launcher, but am puzzled why the process of switching over has proven so laborious, given you've announced it as 'post-beta'. Either I'm not installing and configuring it correctly, in which case I assert you need to provide better documentation or more automation - or you're really not out of the woods yet, and it's still in beta. I've read many of the other problems folks are having, and it seems the new launcher has a ways to go yet.

Anyway, i look forward to using the finished and polished version when it's ready, hopefully sooner than later.

Didn't read the past 10 pages

Can we get an option to move or collapse the account list smack dab in the middle of the beautiful screen

20+ accounts scrolls the entire length of a 2520x1600 screen and make it so i can't even see the background

Is there any way to "repair" the new launcher? Is that the same as going to Settings > Shared Cache and then verifying the integrity of the downloaded files?

The old launcher had a separate utility that we could try running if the launcher itself had trouble starting.

Any chance that you can make it so the clients that are in the backgound have all sounds muted, like isboxer can?

I realy like the new launcher, but this feature from isboxer, is the only reason I am not using the new launcher. (I know I might not have anything to do with the launcher in general)

Allso the feature (from isboxer) that backgound clients can have there flamerate lowered are nice too.

Thanks in advance for replying
