Hopefully relevant system details: GeForce GTX 980 graphics on an EVGA card, Windows 10, ASUS PB287Q monitor, i5-4690K processor.

For the past several months, I have been having to re-install the launcher after every major update. Lately, it has been even more frequent than that, and today I could not get it to start online at all. I opted to go for a completely clean re-install of the game. This was apparently not a smart decision.

I uninstalled everything EVE I could find on my computer and went to the download page. Somehow, it is remembering my "custom" install directory from my last re-install attempt; I don't know how this is possible. I wanted it to use the default pathways on the off chance that was part of my long-term launcher issues. After installation, it is also remembering account details, again I don't know how it's doing this. I thought I deleted EVERYTHING but it's still remembering settings. I've never used EVE through Steam, but is it possible Steam is causing issues? I know it will refuse to restart if I have EVE going, is it somehow remembering my EVE settings (and if so, how do I stop it)?

That aside, the download page only installs the "new" launcher (was the beta launcher, is it now default?). This really doesn't work for me - the new launcher doesn't seem to be compatible with my monitor. It locks in my graphics settings at lower resolutions; I can't access 4K options with the new launcher (at least not in windowed mode).

I would appreciate some guidance on how to do a clean install and avoid launcher issues.

Update: I uninstalled again and just ran the launcher file on the "Reinstalling the Launcher" page; so far this seems to have done most of what I wanted. It's now refusing to allow me to change from 1920x1017 resolution though, and always launches the client mostly off my screen (in the lower right corner, have to drag it back).
