This just shows me how great this game is! There is so many ways to make isk and enjoy playing.
Sometimes I wish id known from the start what to train skillwise I've missed golden opportunity to make billions on t2 production!
Well gotta be patient and wait for new opportunities!

I started out in 2009 buying and selling meta modules a few jumps from a hub, having noticed the price differences between the trade hub, and mission hubs, and the crazy margins on meta stuff.

I then decided to try seed the mission hub with fits I knew people flew out of there (spent a while sitting and watching undocks :p )

After that I dipped into trying to get people to buy from locations that were not very seeded (this is still something I very much enjoy doing, but it requires a lot of patience).

I have also done arbitrage between the major hubs, as well as buying to order from industrialists of various types, and reselling peoples junk.

These days I mostly like dealing with only one side of the market, so do reselling, but I am getting back into seeding indy/mining/mission minihubs, as it is fun, in my opinion, when people start buying from your station.

So as I've read all the posts here in this topic I've managed to make my own plan what to do in eve!
I invested some isk into cheap boo that had over 20% profit margin as un researchead bpo. I also made few PI planets in those manufacturing systems for some extra isk while I'm over there.
And as of this morning I've almost doubled that 15m already and I'm not counting the investments I had to make in order to get this rolling. I also made a change in my training list to support manufacturin and researching activities.

Gotta say thank you for everyone to participate in this thread!

Missions to get isk , then hauling ORE ship bpo's from nullsec to empire in a shuttle to make big profits ... and in some cases deliver others some good loot from my wreck Blink.

First million from a group mining op with half a dozen random newbies like myself. Used that isk to low ball bid for items given to players for free in new player systems. Would then haul to Jita and relist for more. Transitioned to arbitrage trading PI command centers up until they were converted to the current system of basics only.

After 2 months of playing I was penniless. I did a few missions and managed to save 5m. On an impulse I went and bought skillbooks one jump away from Hek and listed them at about 800% profit.

To my amazement I made 15m overnight. So I filled up my frigate full of skill books and set up sell orders for them at various mission hubs all over Minmitar and Caldari space. Meanwhile I started training trade skills.

I soon found out which skillbooks were needed where, and realized that people will buy them at literally any cost as long as you provided them where they were needed. Another great aspect was that I could do all this in a frigate, which was brilliant for a newbie.

After 8 years I still occasionally sell skillbooks, just for old times sake, and it works just the same.

Any colour you like.

I started out, as many do, mining in a Venture. I then went and made my first couple of billion writing articles for TheMittani.com as their 'resident newbie' (details in my sig).

However, it was too close to what I do for actual day-to-day work, so I stopped before I burned out of EVE.

I then moved onto making nanite paste in 0.0 space and these days, wormhole PI, the odd bit of gas mining and wormhole site running are my main sources of ISK.

I keep an eye out for the odd juicy market deals, but I'm not a station trader by any means.

Started off mining in high sec until I could eventually afford a Hulk. I didn't know missions existed or that mining in a Hulk could get you ganked back then. A short time after that, my corp moved to nullsec, so I went with them with a Megathron and a few mining ships. We made a lot of ISK ratting and mining. I got into manufacturing to supply nullsec stations, which was incredibly lucrative.

One rueful day, BoB steamrolled through Providence, burning everything I knew to space ash. I died trying to defend our POS in my Megathron. We lost our territory and were forced back to highsec. I went into cryosleep for several years before my eventual return. That was all a long time ago, but I can still hear the screams of my corpmates in my nightmares.

Oh boy. A BoB and MC call back. Been a long time since they ran the game. They roll through you when they went at IAC?

I honestly don't remember what our overall strategy was at the time. I was still a noob, so many of the political developments went over my head. I mostly just shot at red things and followed instructions from my corp. I do recall that we were working to build up an alliance called the Brotherhood Of Steel. We ultimately failed and were shattered, but we died in glorious combat.

I did some regular stuff and worked my way up to missioning in a raven and then I finally looked at the indy side of eve. I saw that with my whole 1 billion isk, I could make a profit of about 100m a day if I just produced t1 rigs outside of jita and shipped them there. I did this for a bit and even got an uncollateralized loan to expand my business. On the side, I still ran some missions and incursions. Then eventually I realized that some contracts were going for far more than what it cost me to make them. I took this up and began watching the big traders there and slowly whittled off my manufacturing business until I became entirely a trading venture. Then in my trading searches, 6-7B fell into my lap due to some mispricing and that accelerated my upswing in wealth. With that exceptional capital injection, I was able to accelerate my trading into higher value, higher margin items.

Loosly translated;

"i did missions in a raven" = i bought 6 plex to start
"i did missions in a drake" = i bought 2 plex to start

Little update on my start. So I've moved to manufacturing few high profit products and daily trips to another trade hub to find decent trades. I've also started to use eve central to find me some trades. I also learnt my first rule on bad investments aswell like this. So atm I'm sitting on 80mil on wallet and 100mil on sell orders. It's starting to get easier to do trading now!

The catalyst that catapulted me into what I've been doing for the last 2-3 years was finding out that you can view other peoples' contract history which could show you how much items were recently sold for, if you knew the sellers. After losing out on a few profitable contracts I soon found out who the traders to watch were and I just emulated them, remembering the prices they bought and sold for and checking back to see what was selling, or what juicy contracts I had missed.

I don't understand what is your strategy of using contracts to get intels. Could you explain? Thx

This isn't still lucrative is it? (obviously using an interceptor or an interdiction nullified T3 and possibly wormhole chains)?

I'm curious.

Not when they are selling under NPC in Jita. stick to catalysts & blasters champ.

Bowheads were good though, a friend grabbed a BPO for me and i made 400m on day 1.
