Not sure if this is already proposed or already something that devs are planning for Citadel update, but here goes...

Lets say that corp has BPO's in some corp hangar. There are industrial in the corp too, but corp would like to restrict the access for new members and still allow them to use corp BPO's. So, would it be possible to make a change how using corp BPO's work:

If members has access to corp hangar where BPO's are(locked), he/she could start for example manufacturing job, but now member could choose where the input materials are taken for the job (from his/her personal hangar or corp hangar) and output destination for ready goods to his/her personal hangar or corp hangar.

In simple words, enable possibility to choose where the input materials are taken and also possibility choose where output goes. This way both corp and members could benefit the use of corporation owned BPO's. I would hope this would be enabled at least in Citadels.

Yep it has been like 0 times now. And since all the details on citadels are known by everyone now I can say it's a great idea.

Yep, would make life so much easier when you could choose where the input material is taken from and where the output is directed.

Anyone else would find this useful?

As structured, not quite.

Input/output isn't really the important part. The important part is job ownership. You want to be able to install a personal job with a BP in corporate storage. Just changing the input/output to personal hangars while leaving it as a corporate job would mean anyone with the permissions could cancel the job.

Additionally, you would probably want a more granular way for a director to designate which BPs can be allowed to be "borrowed" for a personal job (to prevent some jackass from tying needed BPs up in cheap month long copy jobs and the like).

But yes, on the whole, I do think the ability to securely use a corporate BP for a personal job would be a good thing.

With citadels, it might even be okay to go one further and allow secure, public BP use. BPO library/manufacturing stations would be rather interesting (although decidedly less so with space magic asset protection).

Really good points there, totally agree! There are tons of BPO/BPC's unused by corporations, so why not give members ability to utilize those in a way described above.

On the other hand, the limitless availability of slots means idle BPOs can be stuffed into copy jobs for the personal use of members. Even in mid-high index systems this is still entirely economical (the highest public copy index in Domain has a per-run cost of 486 isk to copy a Venture right now, for instance. A battleship copy is 278K. In the lowest public index, a BS is 72K/run).

So, there's a reasonably serviceable alternate mechanism. Not quite the same thing, but probably close enough for most purposes.
