You have found the end game thread for forum PVP Big smile. This is not for you yet. Go enjoy the game, try out different activities and find a nice player corp that can teach you how to do the activities properly you enjoy the most.

These forums have always exemplified that kind of irony.

Also people who enjoy the game play the game, people who don't enjoy the game (anymore) play the forums. So just remember that the vast silent majority is doing just fine.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not conductive to the community spirit that CCP promotes. As such, this kind of behavior will not be tolerated.

27. Off-topic posting is prohibited.

Off-topic posting is permitted within reason, as sometimes a single comment may color or lighten the tone of discussion. However, excessive posting of off-topic remarks in an attempt to derail a thread may result in the thread being locked, or a forum warning being issued to the off-topic poster.

I have removed some off topic posts, and those quoting them.

My absolute favorite kind of person.. the ones who post in the forums on a regular basis who talk about how they quit Eve for *Reasons years ago. Like, move on already bro!

I wouldn't take much notice of it.

People have been saying EVE's has been dying for many years now. If they say it enough one day they may actually be right, at some point in the future.

Dramatic titles and subjects tend to gain a bigger audience.

Find the old forums, check some posts from 2004 about how EVE will surely die because of :not enough pve:, "too difficult:, :wardecs and ganking will be the end of the game:, :M0o will singlehandedly kill EVE: etc etc etc.

EVE Online, dying fast since 2004.

Vektrio, some people are just born to be perpetually pessimistic about everything. Others try to fear monger as a tactic to get the things they want. ie, "This game needs more PVE because I want more PVE it will die without it, mark my words!"

I play both. Evidence is on my KB and the voracious nature with which I post. What? A guy can't multitask the things he enjoys? I also play a lot of Fallout 4.

Wow this thread rages on?

Next time someone complains their rant thread was shut down, I shall direct them here.

This one is special apparently

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

This thread is probably left open for people to blow off steam, they seem to leave one thread open for that purpose. It'll close eventually, then there will be another to take its place.

Edit:

Although, I don't think it's that wise to leave a thread with the kind of title that this thread has.

MMO players don't tend to head for games with dropping numbers, as they can be concerned that the time they invest into an MMO could be wasted.

Well I've been keeping up with it from the start, so, I'm one of those pathetic whelps that have read all 189 pages Sad

Yeah well, it's different if you've been reading from when this thread started. Although you are doing well if you've read all the posts.

But I'm really talking about potential new players that visit the website to see what it's about.

The problem isn't the thread title in that case though, it's the actual player numbers. While it may be stable for the moment it clearly has just been through one hell of a drop. Rather than trying to pretend that everything is fine and dandy, perhaps that should be addressed.

I imagine they will think that there was indeed a fire, and they would be correct to think so.

The title is an issue though, even if it was true.

A lot would already know the game is old that coupled with declining numbers, it sounds like the game is in its twilight years. Why would anyone want to start investing a lot of their time into an MMO if they think it's entered its twilight years?

The title true or not will not help the situation.

What a few people I won't name still refuse to consider, concerning that drop, is how much of it was alts, amongst other variables they seem to be trying very hard to ignore.

New players are coming in every day. I know because I meet them every day. Always someone new. Whether or not they stick around is up to them, but I've never heard of someone quitting a game over a melodramitic forum post. EVE's far from its 'twilight', but even if it wasn't, it'd still be a pretty damn healthy twilight.

Remarkable, how this "EVE is dying/" meme and threads based on this message are influencing posters, maybe its this threatening suggestion in a message.

Yep, must be it.

And, if Valkyrie would be "connected" to EvE, one could have the option to use a ship in the traditional way or the new one.

This is what i pointed out in the part you ignored (you really read things quite selectively), that I don't think will happen. Mostly due to what Hildmar wrote, but also because the two ways of flying are not compatible. I mean you could probably get like in Dust, that what you do in valkyrie affect how much VP is needed for a system flip in FW, but flying like Valkyrie in EVE would be a hassle, and unwanted by many. I don't even know if you can balance it, so that people flying in one way won't get an advantage. Plus could the servers handle 200 man fighthing Valkyrie style in one system, along side 200 players who does not? And how sexy will the valkyrie style fight be in TIDI? You wishes seem pretty unrealistic right now. Which is why your " my way or doom" semantics are annoying.

  • A company CEO might not fully disclose every strategical and content of their upcoming products to public including competition.
  • It could be an "hybrid", more connected with EvE than Dust, consider Dust also had licensing issues that made it impossible to truly connect to EvE even if they wanted.
  • Where did I exactly say "my way or doom"? I suggested a number of ways to "reliven" EvE and make it more palatable to the available potential subscribers we got today. Had it been just for me, I'd be OK to keep EvE like it is right now, even if I can't say I have been satisfied by EvE's flight sim or combat.

From the tone of your post and your perception of what you consider EVE to be, might I suggest Elite Dangerous? Seriously, that's a game that would seriously float your boat. It does tend at times to interfere with my EVE gameplay, especially when they released horizons.

The planning I was talking about wasn't how to fit your ship, it was about getting and holding space, using that space, getting a group of individuals working together towards a common goal. That's strategic planning. You see the game as being about you strapping on a ship and using your no doubt impressive reflexes to shoot other ships. That's not EVE, not really. You may disagree, and that's fine.

I have no problem with people standing on their soapbox berating the game as long as they acknowledge the rights of simple souls like myself who love the game and the current player base, to defend it. Are changes needed? Depends on who you talk too, and the changes in question.

When I imagine a 2003 EvE that started as dogfight game instead of Excel-in-space, then it'd be ED. ED has a good foundation and imo the "getting and holding space" is much more fun for small to medium corps (it's like "owning" a WH but without the downsides). However it's vastly far from being "complete". The developers are releasing some "mini games" per expansion, which indeed reminds EvE's way to get new features added. However ED is still at the first iteration, so there is a ton of features still missing.
Also, its markets are so simple and there's NPC influence on them. Basically someone who loves EvE's "being player based" is not going to enjoy ED forever. I love playing the markets so...
