What was your most intense Internet fight?

Yes, here we will expose your Internet drama. Bring an armchair, bring some popcorn, 'cause things are about to get really goooood.
Please mention below the reason, a detail of the conflict and who won.
I'll start first:

So, I was on reddit's military sub last year (should be called "American @sshole Soldiers") when one guy makes some strange post about Guantanamo Bay. Pointing out his misconceptions, I made a detailed post of Gitmo and all the misfortunate stuff that happen in there (we won't be talking about that now, politics ain't allowed).
However, Mr. D*&k mod comes along and he doesn't like the truth shoved in his face about this, so I'm immediately given a ban (although no violation was commited) and, of course, receive a lot of funny death threats from many GIs. However, just like their plans to advance in the ranks, these never came close to happening..
So, the mod that bans me decides to follow me around totally different subs by behaving like a complete @sshat and bringing up my Gitmo post for no specific reason and sending me bunches of hate mail. Because of this, ANY post that I would make would be derailed and I would be followed around by various online GIs.
Sick and tired of this, I suggested the mod to make sure that he trips on a landmine next time he tours and promptly blocked him.
I do admit, that was a bit harsh of me, but the immaturity of that dude kind of made me question whether he has received his first blanket party yet.

That, my friends, is my most intense Internet drama. What would yours be?

My influence on tragedy surpasses common info channels and ends in continental drift speed up. I do that while I take a nap.

No idea.
I am rather indifferent to people's opinions and just waste time online. I think they put emotions between my lines, though.

Around 12-13 years ago, both my friend and I had a thing for this girl who joined our Counter Strike clan, this was back when girls on the internet were still quite a rare thing (in gaming, anyway).

It started with him telling a few light jokes about me, in an attempt to belittle me in front of her and assert his dominance. So I would tell jokes about him in return, it went on like this for a little while but soon enough the jokes turned into insults and full-blown arguments. I won't go into too many details, but this fight lasted months and was conducted through email, IRC, voice comms, and game servers (we got ourselves banned from a fair few of those during this time).

I feel a bit silly about it all now, but this experience did teach me a valuable lesson: Never put your real info online, you never know who you're going to **** off, and just how far they'll go to get their revenge.

I start fights on reddit by trolling gullible know-it-alls with obvious bait, too many to mention Smile

Remember that I said that to the mod after he banned me for absolutely no reason other than the fact that he can't take even the slightest criticism to his country. And I did that in a polite way, without insults or spiced lies.
If he hadn't been following me around and bringing up the post to start up a sh*tstorm / sending me death threats I wouldn't have sent that to him.

Until that fight I had a pretty bad image of the US military. That incident only reinforced it and made me conclude that many are sociopathic @sshats filled with racism, violence and xenophobia.

Every military is more or less like that from my perspective. It is worse in lower ranks, actually. Dehumanization and drill is causing that. That is why robots should do the fighting between themselves, and people should only watch and be entertained.

Most of the Asshats which are active in such forums haven't served one day in the military.
Maybe some off them serve at KFC or McD, but that's another story.

Flash Forward?

Anyways, I don't care enough about people online to fight or argue with them...

If people want to be d*, then I don't want to play with them and just leave. I've left many player corps in this game for that very reason.

The block feature is very nice. I had a CEO of a corp, several years ago now, just go crazy when I left his corp. He actually placed a 100M bounty on me because he was so mad...he also followed me around for about a week. I presume he was making rude comments or something in Local, but because he was blocked, I didn't see them.

I do recall seeing one player in Local during that time say something like "Dude, what did he do? Knock up your daughter or something?" I responded by saying something like "Na his mother it was hot."

It sounds plausible enough tonight, but wait until tomorrow. Wait for the common sense of the morning.

That's what you call an internet bar fight. And for the usual reasons bar fights happen. Smile

lol I've lost count.

I used to administer the forum community of a pretty large MMO, around 90k users.. Started as a moderator, moved on to supervising mod, then admin. Pretty much every day for years was spent arguing with users or my fellow staff.

Still, good times, great memories and I miss that community.

Nothing particularly stands out as the most intense fight. A lot of protracted ban-appeals would rate up there though.

Once I knocked a cup of water in my lap during a fleet fight and had to sit in a puddle for several minutes until I could extract my pod.

Twenty-three years ago, had a intense argument with a programmer that Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) was not going to replace the Internet protocol suite(TCP/IP) anytime soon. An intense Internet fight.

EVE is easy.
