Nighthawk command battlecruiser for ratting support

I am in the process of building a character for fleet ratting in null using the nighthawk (or damnation-armor) as a platform for passing boosts.

I will train all the relevant skills and have warfare links and implant.

Single question... Will I be able to pass the full boosts to all members of the fleet if I am parked behind the shields of the POS?

Nope.

The only bonuses that go through POS shield right now are mining bonuses (iirc ?).

You can however set your ship to orbit a well defended POS right outside of its shield, it's not really risky.

Last thing: boosts will not work off grid anymore, but we don't know when. It had been hinted several times by the devs in the past.

and... if I recall correctly, CCP will be doing away with off grid boosts....

Wow, that not only puts a slight damper on the plan, but completely throws it into the trash heap! It makes training those skills completely pointless now.

Not at all.

Nighthawk. FoF Heavy Missiles. Medium Micro Jump Drive.

After the change, bring the Nighthawk on grid with you, have it spew FoF missiles (and it's own drones) to provide more DPS while it's also boosting. Point it in a random direction( away from any gate btw, don't point it at a gate lol) when it lands.

If you see a nuet come in, light the MJD on the night hawk (this makes sure you are out of point range of almost anything that comes in, as well as clears you from any obstructions that would prevent warping), then fleet warp everything away to a safe spot/POS.

EVE is a game that changes, that means your thinking has to remain flexible.

It really just means the end of 6 or 7 link boosters.

On grid Command ships can still be pretty good and have more than enough tank for most PVE activities.

CCP have only mentioned that they would like to remove Off-grid boosting sometime soon. It doesn't mean that it'll happen tomorrow, so you can safely train those things.

Remember that in the future you will be able to rip skill points fro your clone and trade them.

I'm doing essentially the same thing but with a Prophecy - command processor and 2 links - on-grid. I can fit either armor or mining links. I'm assuming all off grid boosts will go away within a few months now that BIAB has been deployed but CCP have yet to make the announcement. The Prophecy has the advantage that bonused drones make it a useful component of either a ratting or mining fleet and I'm risking a 50mil battlecruiser rather than a 300mil command ship.

Didn't CCP Seagull double down on this capability at Vegas?

Actually, it means training those skills on a character that isn't a safe-spot sitting alt WILL actually have a point, at last.

the grid now is 8000km pretty confident the rats/npc aren't going to try burn to you and it will be pretty hard for neuts to land on you. Just need to practice getting a bm in the right place as the fleet warps in.

Given that it has been an explict design goal for 3 years, and the only reason it hasn't been implemented as been the technical issues re: the Dogma engine, I think it's probably realistic to assume "sooner" rather than "later".
