I got three on the top of my list:

Mechwarrior 2 and Mercenaries,
yeah, my first place is filled by two full soundtracks.

Final Fantasy VI - Terra's Theme,
Final Fantasy X-2 - Eternity: Memory of Lightwaves.
These two makes me want to learn to play the piano.

A videogame music thread and no mention of Touhou yet? That series has an awesome soundtrack. To mention a few:

Touhou 11 stage 5 - Lullaby of deserted hell

Touhou 12 stage 6 boss - Emotional Skyscraper ~ Cosmic Mind

Touhou 10 stage 4 - Fall of fall ~ Autumnal waterfall

This post was rated "C" for capsuleer.

Two of my all time favorites, it's still just amazing good the SID chip on c64 really was compared to rest of the gaming hardware of that time.

Amiga game themes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0uenevrbCw&feature=related for nostalgic.

edit:
10 games on c64 that didn't made it to the finish line http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4fRu3UyOtY&feature=related (last ninja 4 OMFG CryShocked)

This.

Also, the Skyrim soundtrack is pretty sweet. I know there's another game with a really awesome soundtrack or theme song, but I can't recall it atm.

Zoids for the C64.

IMO never has a piece of music fitted a game so well. The general atmosphere is perfect and the highs and lows of the piece correspond extremely well with the changes and variation of the actual gameplay. The fact that it's from the C64 era of gaming makes the feat even more impressive. There are many other amazing pieces of game music and I certianly love many of the choices people have already posted, but Rob Hubbard and zoids hold the top spot for me.

I had forgotten about Erana's Peace, despite my brother having the original version of QFG (called Hero's Quest - was renamed due to a lawsuit).

My personal favorite continues to be Aria de Mezzo Carattere from FF6 (or FF3 for those of us who first played it on SNES).

Second best would be the haunting Kadish Gallery theme from Uru. Still astounded that the singer was 16 at the time, excellent talent.

Currently Retired / Semi-Casual (pending changes to RL concerns).
