Most everything on the interwebs about Eve is from years ago, even a lot of the stuff on the wikis is outdated. What's the dealio with this? It's so hard to find reliable up to date information.

That makes no sense. If it was updated there would be no complaints about it being outdated.

Reliabilty for anyone is a scarce resource, propably the main reason. Up to date is a non existant resource and only a myth like santa claus and pixies are.

after 8+ years people move on

and really all video game info is old
take prima for example, they write those guides in beta and by the time launch comes the guide is already 5 patches behind and doesn't even include all of the content.

It makes perfect sense because after you update, it already becomes outdated and then you have to update it again.

EVE development was on complete hold for 2 years, and most mechanics in the game have not been touched since before you were out of diapers. A guide could be written on a cave wall, and still be up to date.

The time between Eve updates is plenty enough to keep your guides and wikis updated.

And then get bitched at because you didn't search for unreliable outdated info.

Sure am. I've already been working on one wiki, obviously I can't do it all alone though.

I'll third the well thought out, reasonable suggestions above.

Quote:
wi·ki/ˈwikē/ Noun: A Web site developed collaboratively by a community of users, allowing any user to add and edit content.

There is also the ISK guide to provide a basic overview. But seriously, why do people need an up to date guide for EVE? There are broad overviews for relatively unchanged items, dev blogs to explain things, forums and corp mates to ask questions of and a whole Wiki to edit and read.

How can a person NOT find an answer if they really wanted one?

I'll bold the important part. Anyway, I don't care about a guide, I care about basic information about the game that shouldn't be outdated but is

1) For many reasons a lot of experienced and helpful players have since moved on to other games.

2) Competition. No sense in destroying your own advantage.

3) A lot of stuff really hasn't changed in the last few years.

Edit - This is more of a personal rant of mine and probably doesn't hold water but EVE's community has changed from determined and experimental to lazy and whiny. More and more people want **** hand fed to them and can't be bothered to figure anything out on there own. This general retardation of the EVE community would also be a solid reason why there's nothing constructive coming out of it anymore.

That 10,000,000,000 times over. There are too many players coming to EVE because they are bored with WoW / whatever and not because they WANT to play EVE as it is. I've only been here a year or so and the trend is definitely heading down.

Things haven't changed much

What did change pissed people off (WiS & PI)

We're keeping the rest to ourselves - better to gank you in HiSec with. Why let you quit without shedding some tears first?

Sigh - on a positive note- ask Help in game. Very dedicated volunteers in there that can get you the latest info. And I'm not talking about ISD....

Incarna - Newest business example of mismanaged capital. CCP - Continuing to gank independent PI producers every day
