When scanning the red dot is hard to see

I am really having a hard time seeing the red dot that marks where the scan result is. Is there any way to change the color of that dot. With the black background of the map I can't believe they choose red.

Just keep the signal covered with a probe and it'll remain visible

Well I am 70 years old and have glaucoma. Also go to an eye doctor every 6 months, but that has not helped.

A lot of icons in the new map have too much transparency, especially how things become more transparent as you zoom out. Which makes stuff hard to see. Unfortunately, there is nothing to do about it but file a bug report. Maybe if they get enough they will get rid of the aesthetically nice but functionally unproductive feature.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Apologies - simply trying to lighten the mood, no offence intended if offence was caused.

Don't feel bad. I have excellent eyesight but have great difficulty keeping the dots visible in the new scanning window.

CCP has a "vision" about how the user interface should look, which is partly why they do not allow customizations like other MMO games. So unfortunately no we cannot modify the user interface, and as a result the dot will stay red and the way it is until CCP decides to change it.

However, the probing interface has been revised relatively recently, and CCP does have a team dedicated to improving the user interface, so they do listen to some customer feedback. You can post your request in the Features and Ideas sub-forum, or you can create a support ticket explaining your issues with the dot and asking them to change it, or to extend the UI color schemes / high contrast scheme to the entire interface, rather than just the window borders.

Other than confirming that there are no options right now, we can't do anything as players, so your best bet is to use the sub-forum or the ticket system to bring it to the attention of the devs.

I have to agree with OP. That red dot is quite hard to see. Unfortunatelly I dont think there is way to change its colours. Ugh

The first dot colour has always been red. The difference is that in the past it was always bright and visible but now it all but vanishes as soon as you grab your probes to move them.

True, but scanning probe "bubbles" were not as bright as Las Vegas in the night. Lol

2. Be respectful toward others at all times.

The purpose of the EVE Online forums is to provide a platform for exchange of ideas, and a venue for the discussion of EVE Online. Occasionally there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Forum users are expected to be courteous when disagreeing with others.

4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not conductive to the community spirit that CCP promotes. As such, this kind of behavior will not be tolerated.

Posts violating the above rules and those quoting them have been removed.

@ OP: I too find the faded variant of the red circle to be difficult to find in the new probe window. It seems to be inconsistent on when it is highlighted and when it isn't. You can either opt out of the beta probe interface in the game options, or provide feedback here, or both!

isn't glaucoma one of the biggest things that marijuana is prescribed for? If so I recommend that you smoke as much as possible.

the only thing that you can do is opt out of the new map - the red dot is still a red dot in the old map - but there is a lot less clutter and useless crap making it easier to see important stuff in the old map.

I don't play, I just fourm warrior.

Here's what I do, maybe its useful to someone. Pick Cosmic Signature you want to scan and right click + "Ignore other results". Once scanned and found out it was Wormhole or something, ignore that result. Move mouse to Ignored list and unignore next Cosmic Signature. Repeat. Dont worry already scanned sigs you ignored still show as "(Wormhole). So you wont scan twice same sig if you cant memorize all the names. Helps to remove red dot clutter. Specially if there are many dots and in close proximity.

I do feel for the OP, luckily my eyes are still in good condition.

Specially when something so trivial can make or break how you experience of the game.

As others have said, the only two real options now to get this change to happen is to make CCP aware.

In my opinion, you should use both a petition to CCP kindly explaining your problem (so they are aware about it quicker and mighr be able to assist you) as well as make a thread about it in the "Player features and ideas discussion".

I think you might get some good feedback and support from such a change as it isnt really game breaking.
I do know that you will have my support, as such a thing should not be an issue that stops or prevents you from playing

Failing to consider accessibility when re-designing the UI just isn't acceptable. Catering for users with varying levels of ability should be integral to everything designed to be used on a computer these days. CCP should take a look at this.

I find it difficult to see things in the probe map window too.
As suggested above I made a petition to let CCP know what I thought the problems were.

Discovered yesterday you can still use the old UI, it is much better. But how long will it be available?
In ESC menu I unchecked NewMap and NewProbeScanner options. Maybe you don't need to disable both.
