Recurring payments

Dear CCP,

I have some feedback.

Why is there no opt-in any more for recurring patments with subscriptions plans? I used to have recurring payments off as I remember when buying a 1 month sub, now I notice you can't turn recurring payement option off, you have to cancel your sub manually after buying a sub.

When you buy a sub you should always have an opt-in option for recurring payments and not mandatory recurring payments without an option to disable it unless you manually cancel the sub on an entire different page then the page where you buy the sub. The payment page should have a checkbox where you can choose yes/no for recurring payments.

No doubt there are people that intend to play for one month and find out to late that the payment is recurring. More money for you yes, but not the best business practice imo. On the payment page there is one small little note that tells you the payment is recurring and that you manually have to cancel it, but that note is not all that noticable. I didn't even noticed that note till I checked that page again. At least put that note in bold letters that the payment is rucurring untill it is manually canceled.

Just my opinion of course, but I personally don't like it when companies do automatic recurring payments with a small 'by the way' note that you easily miss and skip over when buying the sub.

Wait, so, I bought a six month sub. Are you saying at the end of that six months, my sub won't just end? It will bill my card again?

For... what, six more months, or?

Yep , thats exactly what he is saying - But that's not all CCP is trying to snake past ya , there's more!

I subbed for a full year at a "discounted" rate ( yours too I imagine) because it was a year long first purchase sub.

Imagine my surprise to see that indeed on my 1 year Sub anniversary, they would AUTOMATICALLY charge me for another full year.

HOWEVER

If that didn't anger ya, whats EVEN WORSE is the AUTOMATIC payment is no longer the initial discounted rate , it costs almost twice as much Twisted

And they wonder why people get upset and stop paying n playing lol

Luckily I noticed this myself right away and unsubscribed immediately after buying the full year - Not a good first impression

In other news, my car insurance company will automatically take payment and renew my car insurance for me, not only that it will be two to three hundred pounds more than it was last year. The swines.

In all fairness I bet if you asked for a refund within about a week they'd give it.

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

QFT they even have an option specifically telling them you're doing this to stop recurring payments...

Just say NO to Dailies

Definition of "subscription" = recurring charges.

Otherwise it's called a one-time pre-payment.

So actually what you're asking for is the ability to just pre-pay ONCE for some time period, as a separate payment option than establishing a subscription. So they should establish a new web page and billing interface because you don't want to click a couple more times.

Do it, CCP! Charge them $20, for the "convenience" of fewer clicks. You'll make bank.

Unfortunately this does not always works as intented, I always cancel my sub after a payment, only to get to an email saying my sub has been automatically been renewed knowing full well it's been cancelled and it says as much on my account, this has happened twice to me.

It's as if CCP do it on purpose to keep you subbed.

A sub = timed access to certain content. That does not automatically mean 'recurring' at all, specially not without an opt-in from the customers side.

CCP adding that little 'by the way' note on the payment page it makes it all legal and stuff, but as for good consumer rights you are suposed to be asked if you want to be a payment to be recurring or not.

I love how people make up definitions to suit their own agendas. There are multiple definitions of subscription, many of them similar to this:

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/subscription

It's also possible to find other definitions, all of which are correct.

Your limited application isn't the 100% always correct one.

In any case, we all authorise the recurring payment when we sign up. It's no different than a lot if companies policies. So you agree to it in advance.

Really what a dumb reply.
I have accounts that have been playing since 2009 and there was always an option to not have recurring payments. The mandatory recurring payments only came in sometime in 2015. There was never a different billing interface, they just removed the option from the current page.

There should always be options. Like when they create a new feature in EVE, there should always be the option to turn it on off.

It has always worked for me. You must be doing something wrong.
