Wardec scammed

I got scammed by Wander fleet yesterday. go ahead and laugh....Ok here's what happened; I made a little corp,named it Bloodwolf Clan, got a few people to join, 5 all together: 4 new players and 1 veteran returning to the game . after about a week, Wander fleet declares war on us. I was ok with it,it happens. I informed the corp members, looked at Wanders war history, 12 wars, no kills/no loses. didn't worry about it at 1st. decided it would be best to close the corp, nothing discourages a new player like getting ganked by a better skilled/equpiped player. right after closing, Wanders ceo ask me to join him in a private chat, I oblige, he then informs me his is a 'mercinary' corp and has declared war on me on behalf of another corp, said I pissed this guy off good. tells me even if I or ant member leave the corp, we are still targets and any corp we jion will be wardec'd. then he informs me if I outbid the contract, he'll withdraw the wardec. I start to smell a scam...the contract is 350 mil. I have the ISK, paying off the contract would take 1/2 of my Isk.....so I pay it just to see who took out the contract. He gives me a name, ceo of a mining/indy corp/alliance. I contact this player, sure enough it was a scam, apparently Anaiah Ben-Gurion of Wander Fleet has used this player as a "false client' before, and he has an official complaint going with CCP on the matter. now , if he had come to me and said 'pay me not to kill you' it would have been different, Ive heard of that before. but to use another player like he did was wrong. So, to sum up, Wander Fleet= Wardec scammers, me = wiser player because of it...

Nice post. Of course hindsight is 20/20, but yeah no kills no losses 9 out of 10 times means scammer.

You had a Corp going. You are the one that made it hard because you decided to close it on the basis of your own fear/lack of knowledge.

By just closing the Corp you provided no opportunity for those new players to learn how to handle a wardec and I doubt, from your decision just to close, that you understand how either.

The problem for new players isn't the wardecs, it's terrible CEOs.

Actually according to CCP research, nothing puts off new players like shielding themselves (or being shielded) from other players.

Why?


Impersonating other players and/or CCP personnel breaks the EULA. In the case of players, the offence is maybe-ban level, in the case of CCP personel it's ALL-ACCOUNTS-CONCORDOKKEN level.
