Key points: NOT a solo vessel, designed to sit at long range and remove interceptors/drones from higher value ships.

CLOAKING: most people think this is a stupid idea but it has saved my life many times and comes in handy for scouting.

105dps projected to 78.8km

A cormorant is an obvious alternative and I already am building one (after losing my prototype harpy, again) but there are other problems that need consideration

a) twice as large sig radius
b) lower resists
c) lower targeting range

so while the cormorant is still excellent it requires shield mods which aren't needed on the harpy.

Sitting at 60 km in a frigate or destroyer is going to be a quick way to a pod, against pretty much any gang with any dps projection (like say, a single tr3 bc)

Has an afterburner, cloak, 110km locking range, 94,8+9,75 optimal+falloff, does 129dps and has 3,6k EHP compared to the harpies 4,06. This is without all those fitting/range implants or techII rigs. You'll need perfect fitting skills though.

If you're willing to drop 400EHP, you'll get a ship that does more damage, at a greater range, is much cheaper and doesn't require implants.

From what I recall, you may want to ask Liang Nuren regarding a blaster fit for the Harpy. I'm pretty sure he flies it quite frequently and is one of his favorite fits, so he may have some good advice.

Heh, I was talking to Wensley over twitter about Blarpies on Sisi. He's running an Ion/MSE fit with full tackle and Moar Magstabs (in his words). He seems super impressed by it, and from experience I have no reason to doubt that its even better than the buffer Blarpies I've run on TQ. However, I normally run an active tanked blarpy and I like it a lot.

Nice vids liang :) Actually kinda impressive how sturdy the harpy can be.

Also, how comes you always shoot at stuff even when its radically out of range for your guns ? Like 50km with the talos ?

Mostly because the cap/ammo waste doesn't bother me and I'd rather have any damage than no damage. However I'm reasonably sure that I was actually hitting at 50km with the Talos. At 7:47 into the video I'm shooting the Cane at 50km and I hit for 70.8 damage. By 35-40km I'm hitting for 500 damage/shot. Just wasn't worth not shooting?

I guess once the Scorpion landed in that fight at 7:43 I should have pulled in closer and tried to lay more damage on them. Then again, that's one thing that frapsing every fight has taught me - I'm ******* terrible at this game.

Ed: Also, thanks. I'm really looking forward to that resist bonus + extra low on the Harpy. The tank is going to be utterly ridiculous when I have room for 2 MFS + DC II + resist bonus. Sadly, everyone's going to know its tanky too though so I'll have to find something else to fly.
