We were ganked?

Confirming that i get the error too, at random times. Usually when i press "back" and reload, it is fixed.

Yea and sometime pressing back on the browser won't clear it for me, I have to use the link on the error page. What?

I get it too at random times, like a few seconds ago.

Well, a few years ago, I wrote a forum for a german gaming site in asp.net 1.1

It ran a few years, had over 2 Mio posts and no performance probs or anything, but every now and then a null pointer exception occured for no reason.. no chance to debug, our logs show nothing. ;)

I even had several asp.net mvp's from Microsoft looking over the code and they haven't found anything that might have caused that behaviour...

All you need to do was to reload the page and everything was fine again. I bet it is the same issue.. asp.net just sucks ass on high load websites.

Question@CCP: what do you need that long viewstate for? I was always told to never rely on the viewstate.

These forums are a complete load of bollocks. I don't know how CCP can release these as an 'improvement' to the old one which more or less worked fine.

I have not gotten it enough times to notice a pattern. I will bump the each time I get the message as well.

I've only gotten it a few times, but it seems to be associated with me trying to load a lot of pages at once (ie: clickclicklclick on favorites or on an RSS feed's listings).

You could be right. ASP is horrible, but It is rather easy just to blame that. It would be nice for CCP to have a quick look at why it happens.

Same here, get "we're ganked" often. It's not really that bad unless I take more than 30sec to write a post or am just browsing the forum. Of course, these activities only account for a mere 90% of what I do on the Eve-online website so by some metric somewhere, probably in the CCP's marketing office, I'm sure it's within acceptable limits. Obviously, the website is responsive and is providing content to me even if it is "we're ganked". So, it must be working as intended. It's not like I ever get 404 or some other error indicating the site is totally fubar.


All those other forums on the interwebz with their 99.99% success in rendering the page you want, with features that allow the back button to take you right back to what you were viewing on the page before, with their functioning IMG tags and signatures, no....they must be doing it wrong. Surely, this pile of dung is much better.

Hey all! I was just chatting to the team working on the forums and they are aware of the 'We Were Ganked' issue and are working on a fix. We understand the frustration when a post you have spent time crafting gets lost due to this problem. Even I, the creator of fabulous posts, have had this happen once.

We will provide you more updates when we have them Smile

Any word on the badly needed dev post search flag for the top of the page, the jump to devpost fuctionality and a CSM flag search function?

Of late it seems to be getting worse. Lost posts etc.
