Gila viable for l4s?

Hello, all.

I bought a gila because my rattler got popped and I can't afford all of the subsystems yet for a tengu, so this is the best I can do at the moment until I can make about 200mil.

So, my questions are: Is the Gila a viable option for doing l4s? Should I take advantage of the 500% damage for medium drones in my fitting? I know that drones are very quickly targeted nowadays since I used to have a rattler, so I am not really sure. Should I ue sentries?

Anyone have any fit ideas? Are there other crusier ships in the ~200mil range I should consider using instead. I am really only skilled for missiles and I don't have the ishtar unlocked so...

Yeah, probably better to just use a Raven or run level 3s with the Gila, depending on your missile skills might be more efficient.

Gila not so much anymore with the nerf. Ishtar is still viable.

I am using the Gila now for lvl 4s, works very good but it is slow even with the MWD (568m/s). I tried using it with RLM but i don't have the skill for T2 launchers and even the Arbalest type has a slow recharge rate (35s). Switched to RHAM but the range is 16km ... at least the light missile launchers have 34km flight range. Might work better for you, as i don't have maxed out skills yet for missles.

Active shield fit

highs:
arbalest RHAM
drone link augmentor

Meds:
Large shield extenders x 3 (2 x T2s, 1 Republic Fleet)
pith-c type kinetic deflection
pith-c type thermal deflection
10MN Y-S68 compact mwd

lows:
2xDDA T2 1x DCU

rigs:
don't remember now but i have 2 for shield recharge rate and 1 other.

Drones: Federation Navy Hammerhead and Caldari Navy Vespa. (still to traing meds to lvl 5 so i can use T2s but these are also good).

I can do every Lvl4 mission except the Burner ones (which obviously need different ships , case by case).

Reminds me of the Drakes of old. Sure they could tank well enough, but hit like a wimp with self esteem issues and zero confidence levels.

You should've used that Rattler for lev 4s to earn yourself a couple bill before plunging it into PVP. A Gila can still run level 4s but as others mentioned it's painfully slow. My suggestion to you is the Ishtar until you can afford another Rattler or CNR.

Next time don't fly in PVP what you can't afford to lose.

Gila is not capable of that big passive regen like before, but you may still get 85k EHP from shields alone with just t2 equipment and lvl3 cruiser skills while still retaining solid 750dps.
But other things are not that fancy. Even with enormous HP bonus and using navy drones, you'll have quite some "return to drone bay/deploy" action. For lvl4s, sentries just better.

And delays while the drones travel from ship to target and from target to target effectively takes that paper 750 dps down to ridiculously low levels when running level 4's.

I can run level 4's in an Ishkur, so the real question here should be can I run them efficiently in a Gila and the answer is NO.
If it is all you have or all you can afford then I guess you have little choice although I would think a modified blitz through level 3's might be a faster way to make ISK than level 4's.

If you don't have the drone skills for gila, then I second the raven. Or Cerberus or nighthawk if you can fly those.

you can get 700ish dps from the gila without much issues, so yes it can run lvl 4's with ease.
The only thing u have to worry about is the travel time of your medium drones.

GM Guard > I must ask you not to use the petition option like this again but i personally would finish the chicken sandwich first so it won´t go to waste. The spaghetti will keep and you can use it the next time you get hungry. Best regards.
