Exploring Unrated DED Sites

I tend to like to mix up my play time with some High Sec exploring in my Nomen.

Two nights ago, I did an unrated DED site and it escalated to another. It was late and the new site was 18 jumps away so I went to bed and did it last night.

First, I was nervous because the route was through a 0.4 system. I know I'm overly paranoid about Low Sec and reviewed zkillboard for recent kills and filtered the map several ways before jumping through the gate. I had my d-scanner up and kept spamming it all the way to the next gate to look for gate camps and a like.

I will admit I freaked out when, in Local, I saw a player with a -9.7 standing. He's a Low Sec hunter and was out looking for prey. I made it safely to the 0.5 on the other side and back again.

When I arrived at the escalated site, I quickly cleared out the rats. I got a pop up showing the site escalated again and my journal updated. I activated the acceleration gate to clear the second pocket.

When I arrived there were several elite frigates and elite cruisers that had tracking dis and cap neuts. First of all, don't fully trust or rely upon the EVElopedia, it has inaccuracies. It states that the cap neuts only reach 10km...so not true...I had to be over 50km, outside my turret range.

Anyways, it was a long drawn out fight between the tracking dis and cap neuts, I got bored and warped out, but didn't bookmark the location and forgot my drones, again.

Things to remember:
1) Take the EVElopedia with a grain of salt
2) Always bookmark an object when entering a site in case you warp out and forget something
3) Always take the Tracking and Optimal Range scripts for Tracking Computers

Any thing else I should remember with unrated DED sites?

It sounds plausible enough tonight, but wait until tomorrow. Wait for the common sense of the morning.

4. Always check d-scan when other people are in system
5. Scout gate from hisec to lowsec as they are usually camped.
6. Check system on zkillboard to see activity.

You can scout ahead with a shuttle, then hop back in to your ship quickly if you have no other help or alt to scout. It's risky, but less risky then a blind jump with your main ship.

Good recommendation (or a rookie ship). Fortunately, I don't explore in my main ship.

Excellent recommendations! I consider these necessary no matter what I am doing! Whether that's exploring, running missions, or generally not docked up at a station!
