Hello so i have been playing eve for a while now. my friend is more recent to eve but has a few months under his belt. he expressed interest in some PVP. me and him were going to try PVP in a small gang of the two of us. i can fly a assault frigate well, he is looking for something to complement that. i told him that a cruiser or another assault frigate would work. i am not entirely sure what ship types would be the effective in a two man squad.

on a similar note he wanted to do some PVP in Wormhole space. one of the ships would need to be able to fit a basic core probe so we do not get lost. Thanks for any responses.

Just fly a svipul. I wish I was joking.

Inty goes first, checks the system, finds a target, then goes svipul, kills the target.

The key word is that the first ship has to be interceptor, so he can avoid gatecamps and tackle fast. AF isn't good for this at all.

Thanks for the quick response. Couldn't an assault frigate be used as a hevery tackler, a ship that can do damage and tank. i was thinking both ships should be able to hold their own in a fight.

The Svipul does an AF's job better with better DPS better tank and at better speeds lock times and so forth.

Yes you could use an AF like an Ishkur if you wanted but the Svi is just better than it.

IS the svipul the best tech 3 destroyer? or if i flew the Hecate could it work just as well.

Hecate is really good at killing dessie and smaller sized stuff that it can catch with in it's scram range. But it'll torn apart by anything bigger then real easily, that is it's particular gimmick,

CCP released some damage info sorted by ship type and weapon type.

Svipul is doling out more pvp damage than the other three tech 3 destroyers combined.

The Confessor is in second place, doing about as much damage as the Hecate and whatever. IMO - fly a Svipul or a Confessor for PVP, and use the other two for PVE or something.

My main advice here is to keep things cheap'ish early on. You will welp ships at an astounding rate as you learn the ropes of pvp in EVE.

Buy and fit up a dozen T1 frigates of your choice, head for lowsec, 0.0 or wormhole space and get into a fight. Die, re-ship, rinse repeat. Using deadhead clones is highly recommended. Feyd has some useful advice for you too.

Much better to learn the hard lessons of frigate PvP in an ISK4m Atron or Punisher than to be welping bling fit Dramiels rocking upwards of ISK150m apiece.

Two friends in T1 frigates can find plenty of fun things to shoot at.

Svipul with an active tank and 125 + noses (with blue pill booster) it can tank a lot and dish out 400+ dps without heat or 460+ dps with heat. With 2 extender tank 150 guns and no scrambler and 2 neuts it can put 500+ dps with heat. AF are nowhere near Svipul in terms of tank and damage.

Sorta depends on where your hunting. If your gunna roam FW space i'd suggest a couple fraction figs, or a t1 tank to tackle with and a high DPS faction frig for the finishing touches. This will allow you to enter and exploit novices and smalls where Svipuls can no longer go. It's really a chess match with moves and countermoves, so i'd identify your engagement profile and then bring ships that can make it go. Since he's younger he's more likely to attract initial attention, and with your better skills you can be his captain save a ship. Just my two cents...
