Importing settings to new computer

Hello, I recently had my computer give out on me (GPU died) and I am now moving to a new computer and am trying to restore all of my settings.

From the previous computer, I copied all of the .dat files in the appdata/local/CCP/eve from both the regular and x86 settings folders.

On this new computer I am using the new client and even when I have put the .dat files into the default_setting folder, the settings do not seem to restore.

If anyone has a fix for this or a reccomendation, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm confused. You appdata folder shouldn't be in "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)", is should be in your user folder. And there is not "default_settings" folder that I'm aware of, though the folder you should be looking at is called "settings".

What OS are you using? Windows 7 should look like this...

"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings"

Where USERNAME is actually just the user's named directory and "c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility" is actually the install location on your machine, so that would be different if you modified the install location during client install. Inside that, there should be a folder called "Browser", several .dat files with names starting with "core_char" and "core_user", a "core_public__.yaml" file, and an .ini file called "prefs".

If it doesn't, then either you didn't put them in the right place, you're using the weirdest OS in the world, or you machine's file architecture is messed up. If possible, it would help for you to screen cap the folder your looking at so we can see what you're seeing.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

The location you suggested is the one I originally copied the files from. On my new install, it made a folder called "default_settings" instead of "settings" in that location. "default_settings" does have the "Browser" folder, both types of "core" files, the "core_public" and the "prefs" file.

I had only logged into one character on this computer so there was 1 set of "core" files there. I checked the number in the "core_char" and "core_user" files and found the equivalent files I had saved and after deleting the new set, copied the ones I had saved over to replace them. When I then started the game, none of the settings were imported which is what I don't understand.

Edit: screen cap
