yea, no real progression. Lots of easy to make the newbie overconfident then sticks their hand into a woodchipper.

Luckily eve-scout likes to keep an anchored can advertising their channel for help if necessary.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

They're doable in a T1-fit Tristan and / or a number of other common, cheap, newbie ships, but you have to think about it for a bit. I don't want to spoiler it, I just wanted to give a warning so he doesn't quit the game... The epic arc is easy, easy, easy, easy, doh I'm dead. And, dead again.

Any T1 cruiser will get the job done. By the time you reach that point, you should be able to fit and afford a T1 cruiser fitted with small turrets or light missiles (this is also usable for doing all level 2 security missions, especially if fitted with cruiser-sized "rapid" small weapons).

Of course, you can also ask in local for help, and complete the mission in whatever you happen to be in.

The best part of the arc in my view, is that the end mission is tough enough for newbies to ask for help. I did so, and immediately made a couple of friends (the more so since I screwed up the 'sharing' of mission objectives) and learned about making a fleet etc.

I think it's a disservice to show a really new player how to solo the end mission.

Lucky you, I guess. The last time I offered help I was accused of being an evil ganker-pedo-scammer.
Reason: My bounty!
I swear the paranoia in this game, while a certain amount of it can no doubt be helpful, gets overhand to the point of being detrimental.

Then again, I just might look like an evil ganker-pedo-scammer? Personally I don“t think so but perhaps thats just what I want you to think....

Would there have been an in-game prompt to nudge me in that direction, and did I miss it??

No there isn't. Only a hint from a carreer agent after finished these. I guess ist one of the Military Agents
which tell you to visit Sister Alitura in Arnon. Just fly there with your frigate, talk to Sister Alitura and start the Missions.

Honestly, its been so long and things may have changed - but I remember that when i started, I completed certain missions and then I got a message in the journal that a particular agent wanted to talk with me. I went to that agent not knowing why or what it was about - and then unknowingly started the soe arc. ultimately I got to the end and couldnt complete the arc as I couldnt kill the last rat. So I called out in local to see if anyone else was doing it and could help and a couple of guys decided to give me a hand. Ultimately they became my eve mentors and my best friends in the game. So all in all, I would recommend doing it - gives a decent amount of isk, and it exposes you to a greater area of the game beyond the starter systems.

I don't play, I just fourm warrior.
