Eve shared cache

I want to move eve to another hardrive and do a fresh install and am thinking about all the settings that are generally lost such as browser bookmarks. After the fresh install I want to change the shared cache location.
I was thinking that I would save the shared cache folder and after reinstalling and setting a new cache location I would just copy the old cache file over the new.

Is this going to cause any problems?

Is there a better way to do this?

That should work, but your IGB bookmarks are not stored in the shared cache, it's in a different cache folder. For things such as user defined in game settings and such, there's a couple other places Eve keeps them.

Should be located in your user folder under AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\ (for win 7, no idea for other OS'), then in the folder labeled by your game's install path in lower caps and with underscores. On mine, for instance, the folder is named, "c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility". There should be at least two folders inside named "cache" and "settings", as well as backup copies that the launcher generates when you use the launcher to clear either of them or both.

If you're reinstalling Eve, you should make back ups of both cache and settings folders and the Eve folder in "MyDocuments", which is for overview settings, logs, and screen shots. The settings folder contains all of your game settings adjustments, such as your UI changes, options you set or toggled on or off, etc. The overview folder contains all of your exported overview .yaml files associated with overview settings such as tag color and priority, which are a pain in the neck to redo from scratch. These should be small enough to store in low capacity devices, such as a thumb drive or even your phone.

As far as the shared cache, yes you should be able to just define its location from the launcher and as long as your copy isn't missing anything, just move the shared cache there.
