A year in review - EVE 2015

2015 was an incredible year in the EVE. We have seen so many things going on in the game world with large alliances disbanding or closing their doors, new entities emerging, focus of interest shifting, drama, success. It is not always the big event that matter, it is also exciting to read action reports of fights with only a single one survivor limping off the field hanging together by a sliver of just 1 structure HP ... it is impossible to capture all this passion, excitement and wrecking action!



Before all these wonderful things are lost in space and time, I would like to present a few selected highlights of interesting things that took place in EVE and the EVE Community in 2015. Please bear with me that naturally many good things are missing - please those good stories, interesting events, artwork and more in the comments.

Thank you for an year full of fattygay and ridiculous jump ranges CCP. For Sh*tty sov system, making EVE more boring than ever and making me regret reactivating my accounts after 3,5 years without EVE just to see all the pain you've created for the players. May what you created come and bait you someday next year. Cool

I must agree with the Skymarshal, 2015 has been an awful year for the game. I hope CCP will deliver on its promises to iterate on the changes they made after all the negative feedback but I'm sincerely doubtful. I hope you put Punkturis in charge of everything or at least give her a raise based on the great UI and general QoL changes she has implemented over the year. Recommend making her and Guard shareholders.

Did I just have to like and quote Jenn aSide because I agree? Truly dark times.

Anyways, sure I have (minor complaints), but all in all, I still enjoy EvE, and many of the changes and additions this year were nice, so thanks CCP, and thanks EvE community. I look forward to 2016 in EvE.

The old saying "the only constant in life... is change" applies here. The SOV overhaul and jump range nerf wasn't going to make everyone happy, but it has WORKED to break up the sov map, which looks a lot more diverse than before the changes. CCP can't stop players from making coalitions, but they did make supporting an empire that spans the map from one point, a lot more challenging.

Smaller groups that could not counter the supercap blob, that could take a nullsec outpost away with 5 minutes of shooting, have a place now... a lot more players, especially newer players can have a role in taking and defending SOV. I think that's good for the game overall.

Capital-focused players took a hit, no question. Some accounts went idle. (And others went idle due to the clampdown on input broadcasting... its remarkable that CCP made this rules change, sacrificing some easy income.)

Capital pilots will get some new gameplay, new toys, and a role in attacking or defending HP-based Citadel structures in 2016, but I believe the jump range nerf is going to stay. Capital pilots will be... are needed everywhere, 100 capital pilots based in one station is a powerful regional defense, but that same group is now less of a threat to a small group with 5 dreds sieging a POS that only they care about, on the opposite side of the map.

in my eyes, 2015 was NOT a Incredible year in EVE... it was like the year before... just some additions With a shallow content.

A wonderful first year in EVE! As a player who started playing this year I am quite satisfied with my first year in this sandbox :D


Love the new visuals; shield tanking, dirt, killmarks, anti-aliasing and D-scan :) Looking forward to next year having fun with some tech 2 ships (cant fly them yet, but sooon (TM)) and maybe advancing my PvP skill to beyond warp stab in lows to get away :P
