As I was dusting off an old character and trying to decide what direction its skill training progression would take, I realized that he was from a very different era. Now, new characters arrive from the oven with somewhere around 400k sp as opposed to the old standard of 50k. It was during my internalized debate on this characters future that it dawned upon me the magnitude of changes that we as Eve players slogged through to get to this years end.

January brought us Proteus with the never ending obligatory Module Tiericide, ship buffs and nerfs. Nothing spectacular really.

February wasTiamat and the era of T3 ships gets a solid boost with the introduction of the Svipul. Drifters, Corporate Management tools and various computer techy blingy things that I am not remotely qualified to even utter.

March with Scylla and the early spring sour grapes nerf to the beloved Ishtard, much needed buff to Rails, or more accurately, to medium weapons. And the death of Skynet!! Last but not certainly least... you guessed it, Nerf to T3 Cruisers (Does anyone seriously consider this a buff?).

April and Mosaic could arguably be in the running for the most controversial set of changes this year. Ship skins, T3 destroyer nerf, 3D starmap, and Opportunities. With the latter being on my top 5 most hated list. Mosaic created a lot of discussion with some hate and discontent thrown in for good measure. Burner missions and new visuals were the only saving grace for Mosaic.

May was reserved by CCP for Trolls, Reddit ****posts, and general rumor mongering.

June and Carnyx introduced us to the early summer ****storm known as SOV which was nearly overshadowed by the overview icon changes. And yes, more module tiericide, the flying Caldari cell phone tower, Jackdaw. Did I mention more ship skins?

July and Aegis Yeah more ship skins! Much needed Missile changes. What release would be complete without CCP taking Thor's hammer to the Ishtard (again). Gallante Hecate (hmmm... Northrup B2 bomber Ver 99.23.400). The rumble you hear in the background are the villagers gathering torches and pitchforks in preparation for the great SOV revolt. Whoa!, that was quick, July 14 Aegis redux... SOV changes. Cry And here I was looking forward to looting cases of beer and big screen TV's.

Now I am not going to bore A** everyone to death with Galatea, Vanguard, and Parallax releases as this post is long enough as is. But there is a very valid point to be made. The number of, and complexity to the changes are staggering! At no time in the history of Eve have I witnessed so many changes in a single year. You may like or dislike, admire or rebuke CCP for their decisions, but you must appreciate the large scale effort to keep "OUR" game moving forward. The introduction of BIAB in itself is a testament to CCP's dedication to Eve. It was scary as I watched the CCP dev try to explain (on the Eve show) the inner workings of BIAB. My first reaction was "My God, someone cloned Nikola Tesla", my second was, "Whoa, this dude is light years smarter than me."
Overall, I am pleased. Very pleasedBig smile Good job CCP. The point of my post is simple. I have grown weary of the sycophantic whiners crying out "Eve is dead", "it's time has come and gone". Contrary my friends... the best is yet to come. This train is leaving the station... and it's a damn fast one at that. Get onboard!!

Civil discourse is uniquely human. After all, when is the last time a pride of lions and a herd of water buffalo negotiated SOV over a watering hole? Never. Someone either gets their ass kicked or eaten. At the end of the day someone holds SOV.

So a few ships, balance changes, monetisation and nerfs. Oh and BIAB. Thanks for the recap. Big smile

Thanks for the breakdown Max. Don't worry about the Doomsayers. You could give those people lifetime passes to their favourite theme parks and they'd spend the whole time telling everyone there how terrible all the rides are.

I'm sure they would... if the rides were terrible. Something being free or your favourite thing doesn't mean that no part of it is terrible.

2015 also brought us much learning on the Platypus, the Narwhal and the noble Ferret, as well as brought us some rather interesting Harry Potter fan fic!

No, the train has left ages ago.

It stopped at several major and minor stations in-between, climbed some steep hills, creaked around some awfully thigh corners and squeezed through some very narrow tunnels.
A while back the train reached the highest pass, the valley lay below, the view wide and open. The track straight as a line.

Now, bellowing smoke and steam, top speed in reach, we're thundering down the track.

Whistles blowing.

We're finally flying again!

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

Thanks for the recap, I missed most of this year, was nice to read a different take on the changes other than just the patch notes.

Speaking of random fun facts, every time I see people arguing about whether it's called a hashtag or a pound sign, I giggle a little inside.

It's an octothorpe.

Really? I did not know that!

I started my day off well by learning something new. Thank you

That was the "techy blingy things" mentioned. I know that it looks cool (POS tower, shields, damage), but have no earthly idea how they do that. Kinda like early native island tribes seeing an airplane for the first time, it was an iron bird sent from the Gods!

All the bitching about the overview icons was much ado about nothing. People got over it really quickly.
