Are there 'rats' in Null sec relic and data sites? I heard they were removed to make exploring more appealing to low skill players..Just need to know so I can fit appropriatly.

Don't listen to the guy above. They do indeed spawn rats. They are named mobs and tend to fly the NPC version of Astero's, the officer spawns tend to be in a NPC Tech 3 cruiser hull. The astero rats can get pretty scary, but if you kill the add's you will be fine. If you manage to kill the Astero rat's, they have a fairly common drop of deadspace a-type mods. officer spawns tend to drop deadpsace x-types and occasional 1-4 officer mods.

For some reason the faction spawn Stratio's are more powerful than their officer counterpart, CCP needs to fix that.

Data and relic sites? Unless changed in like the past week, they got nothing in them of any interest. At best you get some more higher value stuff of what you would find in the higher sec systems. The game is a bit more challenging. No NPCs, no complexity. Just hack the can, take loot.

To quote Lfod Shi

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

If you're going to post a joke, don't ruin it at the start by declaring other players as NPCs.

Hold that off till the end. Would be much funnier (or even slightly funny....maybe...or maybe not, since this has been done before so it isn't even original comedy).

This is not completely true ... failed hack attempts in data sites located in the drone regions can (means, will likely) spawn rats guarding the container from further access. But those can be killed easily with 20+ DPS. Elsewhere in known space pirate data and relic sites are free from NPCs. Wormholes, ghost sites and sleeper caches are a different story.

I'm my own NPC alt.

Don't give him the info on how to trigger the Nestor spawn for the market's sake... way to shoot the golden goose =/

I'll just discovered that there is no spew. That is a serious improvement.

I just hit a null relic and data site, no spawns. To answer the op.

Removing the spew mechanic was a nerf, not a buff. If you had half a brain you could take ALL the containers with the real loot easily. Now the loot drops got slashed in half.

Please don't make assumptions. I neither said nor implied that I couldn't gather the loot. I merely stated that I didn't like the prior mechanic. The nerf to loot drops would be a separate issue, since you assert that there was no problem gathering all the loot before anyway.

As far as i have seen, you can fyll up a co op or Astero for about 700 800 mills before you need to empty it of the goods you can find (throw trash items of no value), and no, there will not spawn npc in those sides, but in drone regions there are examples of some spawns, nowhere else.

While data and relic sites can on occasion be profitable for time spent, the real reward comes from doing combat signatures.

You forgot to mention the Ancillary shield boosted, linked interceptor (burner) that occasionally spawns if you're in an astero. It killed the first one I ever flew.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?
