If you like it boring and understand stats, the quick version: What's the p90 number of jumps required to get from null-sec to hi-sec.

A DJINN'S CONTEST:

A magic djinn jumps out of a bottle and offers you 1,000 PLEX if you win a guessing game. [Disclaimer: No actual PLEX is being offered here.] To win, you must guess two integers that, combined, are closer than the guesses of all your fellow capsuleers who have also been offered a chance at this game.

It costs you nothing except a few minutes of your thinking time to play, so you think 'Great!'

The djinn then gives you the following information. CATCH: You are not given any additional information, and the djinn will not answer follow-up questions.

The djinn begins.

THE GAME

"I am going to conduct an experiment 10,000 times. For each run on the experiment, I will:
0. Use my magic powers to prevent all WH despawning, make me indestructible / uncatchable, and prevent any other interference like server downtimes.
1. Pick a random system in null-sec space that has at least one wormhole leading to either hi-sec or w-space. I then teleport my ship to that null-sec system (magic!).
2. Instantly identify and locate all wormholes in the present system, and identify what types of space they lead to. (hi, low, null, c1-c3, c4-c5, c6)
3. If I see a wormhole system in this list leading to ANY hi-sec system, I will exit through the hi-sec wormhole and this run of the experiment is complete.
4a: If I do not see a hi-sec WH, I will enter a 'Unknown parts of space' WH if there is one.
4b: If I do not see an 'Unknown', I will enter a 'Dangerous unknown'
4c: If I do not see a 'Dangerous unknown', I will enter a 'Deadly unknown'.
Note: I will never enter any WH system I've already been in, thus preventing loops.
5: I will go back to step 3 and continue through the end of step 4 or until I exit into ANY hi-sec system.

Once this run has ended by entering a hi-sec system in step 3, I will make a note of how many jumps were needed to travel from the null-sec system to the high-sec system. I will then move on to the next run in the experiment.

THE MAGIC DJINN'S QUESTION:

"Fill in the blanks with numbers. Out of the 10,000 runs of this experiment, 9,000 of them will contain no less than ____ jumps, and no more than ____ jumps. The other 1,000 runs will fall outside of your guessed range with one number or both. Remember, the goal is not to be correct. The goal is to guess closer than others playing this game."
