Hey all

I'm a new player for around 3 weeks and currently embarking on lvl 3 security mission.."New frontiers". Now at 3/7 of the mission, previous 2 mission parts were pretty intense and different from the security missions I've done before. I cleared level 2 security missions in a cruiser ( Vexor) with relative ease.... but this level 3 missions are pretty difficult to clear even with my BC (Myrmidon).

I'm confident to clear them and I understand perhaps my current skill levels might not be enough to maximise my BCs potential.. but just seeking advise from the veterans.. so as to be able to clear them faster. Each of the previous two missions took me like almost half an hour to complete and after clearing 2 in a row it's quite tiring lol.

Thanks in advance

This guide might help you along, but I suspect you're probably lacking enough skills to maximize your damage.

Right now I'm at the mission 5/7.. "an unexpected twist"

My Myrmidon is equipped enough to withstand the damage throughout the pass missions .. and I can pick them off 1 by 1 at 65+ km with drones and 250mm railguns...

However, in this particular mission, the energy neutralizers have INSANE range... and I am having lot of difficulties with them. They are neuting me at 90km and above..

Any suggestions?

There's a blitz option for that level in the guide, so that might be your best bet. Or you can try playing around with different fits. Here's a link to a few different fits (including a passive shield tank).

Use a passive tanked ship. Like a Drake or a Gila.

or just passive tank the myrm. It does have one of the best passive tank slot layouts out there, can out passive the drake.

For that extra edge-of-the-seat-of-your-pants experience, fly an AF (Ishkur's pretty good) or interceptor (the Taranis for my money). Of course, this is probably not the most efficient way

I wouldn't. Not in that mission. Neuts suck if you don't have a cap booster.

Well, with your wast experience could you elaborate on how the OP would fly those ships, regarding he started playing november 27?

Hello Mr. Sarcasmo NPC alt, I see you woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. Here's your morning cup of coffee *pours in crotch*

Anyway, it should be obvious that whatever one says on the forums should almost by default be taken with a pinch of salt. Yes, I read that he's a relatively new player. However, looking at the Ishkur info tab from a freshly rolled alt, without implants, the training time suggests that it's just a little over 23 days (this is just for the hull alone). Naturally, a true newbie probably wouldn't have that focused a skillplan, but it's within the realms of possibility.

As I mentioned, though, it was clear what I proposed was for 'fun', not efficiency. I don't need my 'wast' (Guten Tag!) experience to tell me that fun in this game is more important than a mad min/max isk/hr efficiency. (That's a story for a whole other thread).

Relax! You might just enjoy the day if you're not coiled so tightly! Smile

Indeed they do! It's been a while since I did this mission, completely forgot.

Ermm thanks guys for all your input.

I did it in a Myrmidon... with a help from another friend.. I realised I just needed to take out the net towers draining my cap... so we fleeted up and he warped in.. gained aggro n neut while I took out the towers and rest of the NPCs were easy after... so after I took out the towers he just left..

In retrospect... I should have equipped a cap booster and things might have been easier..

I understand and have read up about general guidelines on fitting. I understand the concepts and have tried out Myrmidon passive shield tank fit... but I don't know why I prefer active tanking.. and while a lot advise against dual tanking I just can't help fitting in another repairer in low slot lol...

But well... got it done.. so thanks. Rest of the 7/7 missions were no problem.

Dual tanking is never really a good idea because you're usually sacrificing damage and/or application, and if you need to default to a 'backup' tank - there's probably something you can improve upon with your 'primary' tank instead.

Dual tanking is not dual repping.

Two different things.

Dual tanking means fitting both shield and armor mods on the same ship and is rarely a good thing.
