I get an error when starting the latest launcher (EveLauncher-992878).

However, clicking "Yes" only causes another error:
Quote:
"Failed to fix permission of shared cache folder. Please ensure that the folder C:/EVE/SharedCache is writeable."
I installed EVE in C:\Program Files (x86)\EVE, not C:\EVE. So it's looking in the wrong place for this folder.

Also, from the logs:
Quote:
2015-12-21T01:51:18.048Z debug Cache folder: "C:/EVE/SharedCache"
2015-12-21T01:51:18.048Z debug Application dir: "C:/Program Files (x86)/EVE/Launcher"

It looks like many other parts of the launcher are told to look specifically in C:/EVE instead of the custom location, too.

I will look into this. These folders need to be writeable - the shared cache is where every resource gets downloaded to. The install folder gets written to whenever the launcher is updated - if that folder is protected, you will need to accept elevated privileges whenever it updates. The shared cache should go where you tell it to, though, even if it may need changing permissions.

Two things:

1.
Is it possible to remember which profile was last used with certain account?
I have multiple accounts.
I also have three profiles: "Left display", "Right display", and "Two displays".
The last one - "Two displays" is most used.
However, launcher tries to use "Left display" with every account by default (my guess it just picks the first profile in alphabetical order).

2.
See pic: http://imgur.com/HNHj8OW
Theese lines are not active.
If you click on them, nothing happens.
In the old launcher, they opened your browser with relevant news.

Is it "retail" for now?
If so I still see old launcher. Or I have to download the launcher separately?

Sorry for stupid questions =/

Yes, you need to download and install it separately. The bulk of the data lives in the shared cache, which will not need to be downloaded again.

Days, dev posts, nothing?! Really?

8+ year EVE subscriber. I can't get a petition response. I can't get a DEV response. It is getting old. I guess I have to uninstall, reinstall, and download 20+ gigs of files.

i.e. I am on my own.

Thanks.

I'll see what I can do to help, but I need details. I'm assuming you're experiencing trouble with the launcher - are you running the new launcher? If not, please give it a try. If that still doesn't work, please file a bug report, attaching the logs from the launcher - %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\Launcher and describe your symptoms in detail.

Reinstalling the new launcher does not mean you will have to download everything again - the launcher install is a 50MB download - if you have EVE previously installed it will use the shared cache so any resource you have already downloaded will not be downloaded again.

With this statement it is clear you are using the OLD launcher.

Try to download the new one and see if that helps

in the new launcher TRIPLE check your shared cache folder location in the settings ..

on another note .. did the deafault location of said folder was changed ? .. had it in /programdata/ccp untill now .. did a clean install to OS and moved all files back to as they were ( done it before without no issues) and then the launcher started downloading all over again .. was too sleepy last night to look into it but this morning looked and saw launcher now was pointing to c/eve/sharedcache instead .. perhaps i missed some files with some launcher settings when i was backing it up ... but what ? .. would be good to know for next time :)

Does that mean the EVE Offline Installers found here (http://community.eveonline.com/support/download/offline-installer/) now include the new launcher by default?

'Fraid not.

We're still working out the details of the full installer for the new launcher.

Glad to hear that.

I'll be using this method for my install on a new SSD over Xmas, as there are clearly still issues over the new launcher. Out of beta, really ?

I'm afraid that you're wrong, or have a very bad memory.

XP had a torment of issues when launched, 10 has had far less actual issues, except for microsoft's new tendency too watch every breath you take and desperately trying to direct you towards bing.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

perhaps indeed .. was actualy thinking in the moment .. as was turning off all the w10 "features" when i posted it .. ended up turning it all off and turning w7 on instead .. still got xp on a old system .. should actualy try and see how the new launcher runs on it :)

First - thanks for all the help/responses.

I did download the new one. I deleted my old launcher folder...see my earlier post in this thread.

It did not work.

Can someone walk me through it I guess?

I did petition this on the support page and attached my logs. I thought I did a bug report too...

I am running launcher version 967872 - isn't that the new one?

I did. It points to my install "C:\Games\EVE Online\Resource Cache\"

Ok, so everytime I go to file a bug report, it says, "An unexpected error occurred while submitting your bug report. Please try again later. "

I can't even file a bug report. I think I am giving up on EVE. This is the universe's way of telling me the addiction is over.

This could be caused by failing to upload an attachment (I can remember a very similar bug, not sure if this was fixed) - could you please try to zip the attachments before attaching them? You can also try to send the bug report first and then attach the files afterwards.

Ok, i'm back.

I have a second computer, it is a asus zenbook prime, intel 4000 gpu. I'm experiencing all of the same problems I had before on my actual gaming computer.

So again, everything worked fine with the old launcher.

New launcher
in 1920x1080 it crops out the right and bottom so the character select options are practically touching the bottom of the screen. Also the options window (esc) is almost touching the bottom of the screen. Anything that would be on the bottom or right side is cropped out. Changing to fixed window make it go to a lower res, but at least no cropping.

Now on the GOOD side, If I after changing resolution and mode in game a few times, after selecting full screen/apply it will then allowed me to use the native resolution without cropping.

So there is some bug going on with the new launcher and intel gpu over a given resolution. 1920x1080 included.

I have Windows 10 and I was having this exact same permissions issue with my Eve online client, too. Nothing seemed to work, not even running the app as an Administrator. I even tried manually using Explorer to give the SharedCache folder very liberal permissions (Full Control for everyone). No luck.

Apparently, the problem is related to the fact that Windows 10 has really secure permission settings on the C:\ drive, and by default, EVE online attempts to install the game to C:\EVE\

I solved the problem by right clicking on the EVE online application icon in the taskbar tray (the icon looks like three horizontal white bars, and it's located in the bottom right hand corner of the screen) and selecting the "Shared Cache" option.

This popped up a dialog, which shows the SharedCache folder location and has buttons to "Move" and also "Verify".

I just used this tool to move the entire SharedCache folder from C:\EVE\SharedCache to one of my other non-system hard drives (D:\EVE\SharedCache), and after I did that, it all worked!

For what it's worth, I noticed that when I tried to uninstall and reinstall EVE Online directly to my D:\ drive, it still tried to use the C:\EVE\SharedCache folder path for some reason. The only way to change the path is apparently by right clicking the EVE app in the taskbar and actually moving it.

Tada! Problem solved! Well, for me, anyways. Hope this helps everyone else!

Allright guys.

Apparently I was on the old launcher. I had installed the files I was pointed too before but I guess I needed to do the whole thing over. This one looks completely different and behaves like the dev blog says it should.

Now my question is, how do I have it import my old resources folder over? My old settings over??
