It doesn't matter; this being the newbie Q/A, she can ask questions and we'll try to answer in good faith, cause those are the rules.

No, because you obviously didn't.

Of course it's relevant, how could it not be? The OP posted her question a week ago but only joined her corp yesterday. Do you imagine that her corp has a TARDIS?

rather missing the point though

Going it by yourself early on is not recommended. You need to make friends. I had an IRL friend help me when I was new and I admit that was nice. However you will have to make friends in this game or you will rage quit saying it's too hard.

Not recommended ... but waaaaay more fun if you're capable of finding information yourself.
I guess that's the reason why it's not recommended ...

Oh be nice bumble, no need to out her like that!

Edit: and we aren't being trolled , we're being manipulated.

Important distinction Blink

And in all fairness she is both new to it and asking legitimate questions for others.

Very well spotted.
I'll teach her some manners ingame eventually. ^_^

I did look her up, and her corp. That I choose not to out that information is based on a personal belief in not giving away free info to those who are to lazy to go and find it for themselves.

And you are the one that is wrong, my advice has stood the test of time and it came to me from a multi-year vet when I first started the game in 2009 so let me try to re-wrap this so it might register on your brain cells.

If the corp you are in WILL NOT HELP you when you ask then get the hell out there are many out there that will.
IF you have not asked then you MUST ASK or they may never help.

No matter what you think this advice applies equally to ALL players in the game no matter how new or old they are.
And it applies to ALL players whether you have been in a corp for 5 minutes or 5 years.

Wondering how and why this is so hard for you to understand when the rest of them seem to come to terms with it easily?

SHE WASN'T IN A CORP when she asked the question - other than her starter NPC corp, which wouldn't be much help.

Why is that so difficult for you to understand?

And who exactly are "the rest of them"?

It is 7:20 out here on the west cost of the U.S. and she still shows up in game and seems to have moved to a new corp within the last 24 hours or so.

she sent me a mail in game that had R.I.P. after it and at the time the character was not found in the Eve database. I did not go looking for her.

If she deleted the char ...
... and made a new one with the same name ...
... then it's less likely she's a new player.

"She" Moved to Doomheim corp, which is a game mechanic corp for deleted characters. They're kept there as a backup and deleted after a certain period of time. It's sortof similar as how ship destruction works in EVE. Ships that get destroyed don't disappear, they get instantly moved to a specific location in CCP space and will get removed from the database during downtime.

You shouldn't throw isk at people who find the game hard.
It won't help them at all.

Lesson learned, I hope.

wasnt a lot, just wanted to help.

i know when i first started years ago i was struggling to even use the agent finder correctly.

mistakenly thought i had to travel 20 jumps to the nearest level 1 agent.

ended up getting my arse handed to me by npcs and asked for heklp in the help channel.

honestly i was about ready to give up on eve becuase what kind of sick game makes u travel so far for a level 1 agent, and then hands u ur arse??

anyway some dude in help chat helped me out, brought me back to the starter systems, showed me how to use the agent finder correctly and gave me 20m isk.

basically havent stopped playing since.

yes throwing isk wont make his problems go away but it will mean that he can sustain himself to he figures out what the hell is going on.

that isk given helped me so much in those early days.

I help newbie a lot in many different ways but I almost never give them isk. I sometimes send them a mil or so if they need to buy a specific skill or module we've been talking about but I'm a firm believer of teaching someone to fish rather than giving him one. And someone who is unwilling to fish doesn't deserve one in the first place.

I agree with this mostly. I have given isk to new players and often found it to be counter productive like Gregor said. However there have been times where getting someone into a baseline ship when they messed up and hit rock bottom and are about to give up has helped.

Mostly now-a-days I only offer free ships to new players if they commit to loosing the ship in PvP.

Mostly however I agree with Mr. Parud that new players have to get used to earning their own isk. If they can't get comfortable with that then this game will be hard on them.

I gave this pilot some isk, not much but some. I think in this case it was a mistake as he went out and lost ships trying to mine in low sec and then blamed the game for being too hard. Lesson learned on my end. No more isk handout for new players.
