Ide rather try to dual point the venture I saw for a quick buck and the challenge of catching him. In the end it's just about having fun. If I feel like messing with the phoone later I'll fit a ship for what I think he's running. Assuming I feel like covering the loss of I loose. In the end, who really cares about it.

What I meant was not "never attacking something you don't have a 100% chance of killing", it was rather avoid attacking things you have 0% chance of killing.

Ya, I never attack something I know I have a zero% chance of making go boom either. Although there is always a small chance, they could be derp fit after all. But I tend to assume that's not the case. Most the people that give ya crap are just saying that even if it's 50/50 or a little less it's still possible and those are the real fun wins. I tend to pirate more then spar personally but have done both. What ever floats your boat, or in this case ship.

Such labels.

I had a fight in which I destroyed my opponent's ship, only to lose my own because he managed to launch one last missile volley before he died. I think that's about as even as it gets. Although, apparently I have commited the grave sin of only PvPing when I feel like it in a sandbox.

A Carebear is anyone

1) Who uses the exploit to win.

It doesn't matter if it's PVP or PVE, if you run in gangs to win solo kills, or bring over powered faction ships to do missions, you're a Carebear if you don't face the challenge alone or with a competitive force that is balanced.

Most all of EVE is Carebear game play, so don't over analyze it.

Pfft. I've rolled around for an hour or two just watching people and getting a feel for the traffic and what people are doing just to never engage anyone. Find out who flies together, alts ect. It's fun to just stalk people some time. The people I used to play with don't play anymore and spend most of my time with my indy Corp now since I'm trying to decide what to do. Want to have isk for when I get bored and want to do things without the cops around again. Doesn't always have to be pew pew. Don't tell that to trade hub dualers though lol. My last alliance did that, I don't get those guys. Ide rather get together with people and test things on SISI then do that.

People do missions for money. An over powered ship makes money faster. I run a pirate faction ship that can tank full room aggro in any mission. Don't even have to worry about triggers. Makes the Maurader I bring along sometimes look like a glass cannon. There's nothing wrong with that.

Your logic for missions is like saying if you mine with a exhumer instead of a frig to make more isk, that you are being a carebear and should mine like a real man lol.

Who's saying being a Carebear is a bad thing? It's just how EVE is played.

What you're effectively saying is what everyone does in game and that's take advantage of game rules that allow an over powered relationship to the environment or challenge, so that the player feels amazing. Why do you think CCP pits ONE lone ship against dozens or more NPC's in a room.

1) Why wouldn't a PVP player run in a gang?
2) Why wouldn't a PVE player fly a better ship?

Everyone is a Carebear.

Exploits can't be used to win.

CCP generally ban you if you use an exploit.

No I'll referr you to post #2 and #5.
You may well have your own understanding of the term
but what those posts outline has been generally accepted as the appropriate requisites for it.

For the record, I wasn't disagreeing really. Just thought it was a funny way of looking at it. Overkill is the way of EVE.

Carelessbear

But that's true of most carebears anyway. It's why they end up whining so much.

What a big surprise! Look how fast THIS thread grew! RISK AVERSE? You guys just bubble over when you get to use THAT term; RISK AVERSE. Now it's getting parsed thinly like slicing roast beef; RISK MITIGATION!! Oh my stars! I'm so glad I lived long enough to see this level of bovine scatology spewed with such self-righteous confidence. Here, let me get my pencil. I need to edit my dictionary AGAIN.

Risk averse. Hilarious. Ukeelmeguyz. Melly Kleestmas to yah and may your cow always have diarrhea.

There just isn't anything that can be said!

The term "Carebear" has been kinda changed from it's original meaning into a derogatory term for anyone who in any way mitigates risk. Amusingly this label is more often than not given out by players who play in highsec and refuse to fly ships of any real value, who don't consider themselves carebears because they shoot some noobs. Go figure.

In reality though, labels don't really matter. Play the way you enjoy the game and anyone that doesn't like that can go **** themselves. Big smile
