Don't skill for anything in particular or CCP will nerf it

So I had a nice plan, but then CCP changed something. Then I changed the plan, hopeful that this time, this time I'd get to actually fly something worth while, but then CCP used their nerf bat again. Now I don't know if there's any point to skilling for any particular ship anymore, lest you end up terribly disappointed. So now I will focus on generic things like tanking and such, until CCP nerfs that too.

*Frustrated*

Edit: Yeah I know, it's whining. :p However while I do like all the new things coming, I'd also like a little more stability.

Most times, the change in ship performance is necessary.

They introduce a new ship spec/weapon application
it gets used, tweeked, fleeted, experimented with
someone figures out it is a bit overpowered
soon it becomes the only ship that people are flying

I've been here about 10 years. I get butthurt over some of my favorite ships too. Some were minor nerfs, but some nerfs have ruined those ships forever.
The thing is, CCP HAS to nerf some things to keep the game somewhat balanced. It's all part of the process that comes with introducing new content.
Skill plans change as you get longer into the game. That is also a common and re-occurring event. It doesn't mean the skills are wasted. You will still use them.

[Sarcasm here]
You can't name yourself Zenmaster, and then post threads about frustration. It's in the EULA rules somewhere.

Even a zenmaster gets frustrated from time to time. If not, there is no way to learn. Thanks for the input, guys!

If there is a ship you want so bad you skill for it and it alone, it is probably OP anyway :D

If you rush-train into whatever the Flavour Of The Month ship currently is, you're begging to get caught out by an inevitable nerf.

When I started, all of 14 or so months back,, I had a great many people tell me to rush train into the Ishtar and/or the Tengu.

I am very glad I ignored them in favour of getting my core engineering, fitting, tanking and navigation skills up to scratch. Sure, it means I'm nigh on incapable of flying anything larger than a Frigate in PvP.

That will change in a big way when my current neural mapping for Drones finishes up in ~48 odd days.

Ships will come, ships will go and ships will eventually come back again (as some Phoenix flying friends have pointed out), but those Core skills keep on keeping on, regardless what ship you're currently in.

Yeah, I'm done with the core skills, but the whining is exactly due to first training for the Ishtar for a long-long time, and then switching to the Gila. First the Isthar got nerfed to hell, then the Gila is nerfed now. I got great drone skills though! :p My decision now is to just focus down the few shield, armor and navigation skils I've got left. Eventually that is what saves the day anyway. But I'm still iffy as to which damage category I should choose. I guess hybrids go well with drones, but then I initially skilled Caldari, and they are missiles. Oh, choices, choices...

When everyone is using that one thing all the time it's a pretty good sign that there's something wrong with it.

I have had to re make enough fittings over my years to now not worry over changes, they are a part of the game.

Why? There's always going to be a "best ship" in the game, no matter how balanced everything is.

Because a single ship with a single fitting should never be the 'be all end all' thing that everyone uses because it is the best thing available to do anything. Case in point: The Ishtar of 2 years ago.

I just train everything... Since they simply won't nerf everything... btw the Ishtar is not that bad after nerfing, just sayingRoll

"The message is that there are known knowns. There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know" - CCP

Train for what sucks and is unpopular, and by the time you're good at it, it'll be due for a buff. If the buff comes late, just fly it anyway and let its suckiness make you hard, then when it finally does get buffed, you'll be beastmode and your hair might just turn yellow or something.

Fly dangerous! o/

And in $currentyear, the Ishtar is replaced by $shipname.

You should consider rethinking your definition of nerfed to hell m8

If you stay on it long enough, being able to fly everything (subcappy) becomes almost inevitable..... nerfs will not matter anymore at that point.
