A few things I've been taught (some from hard experience):

-The statics of a wormhole tend to influence its activity levels. While some people scan long chains through deep J-space, I have had better luck scanning through wormholes with high sec statics near trade hubs. While you are less likely to hit the gold mine that way, you can usually gobble Asteros and herons by the dozens.

-Watchlists. If you are using these, chances are you could use them more.
Any time you encounter unpiloted ships, look for player names. You can use your watchlist to check if they are online. They could be out ratting in the system next door, or driving a hauler back from highsec.

As you scout out a chain, keep a note of where people live. If you see them log on, go back to their system and hang out. They might go out to do a site or two. Some people will scan out 20+ wormholes in a row and simply use their watchlists to focus on the active ones.

-Killboards: There is a tremendous amount of intel here. Whenever you enter a new system, check its killboard. You can see what was killed there recently, and get a good idea of who lives there. After you figure out who the inhabitants are, use their killboard to gauge their "prime times". Is their corp mostly active in EU TZ? Have they been ganked lately and are timid for a week? Do they mostly hang out in lowsec to pvp? You often can use killboards to find corps that are worth camping.

-Camping: If you find a wormhole full of carebears that love to rat all day, consider inserting an alt in there. On slow days, you can log that alt in, scan yourself an entry, and wait for their activity.

-Corps: As with most things in Eve, you will have better luck searching for targets if you have other people doing it with you. Being part of a corp full of active hunters tends to get you a lot more content and kills, since you can cover greater areas at once.

Hope this helps

depends who you are dealing with. Learn whos who in wpsace.

You need to build a toolbox of all of the tools you can use to get a fight and figure out which ones to use on which people. Sometimes just....asking for a fight works. sometimes **** talking, sometimes being nice, sometimes posting dank memes... it depends. I dont know much about this game but I know how to get people to fight me.

In my experience we worked up a repertoire to where a lot of the big boys know who we are and that we are going to fight. The smart ones realize we arent capable of dropping caps like you see on youtubes, so they bring something we might actually be able to fight. Be super nice and focus on fun and the "wormhole cfc" will deal with your stupid bullcrap. Because at least they get a fight like...every time. I hate to see small corps hiding from them, get out there! dont be afraid. fk em, they are possible to kill you know.

other groups are super risk adverse, for political reasons I wont go into detail here. But in this case you need to bait and play to what you think they are going to do. We bait with a t1 hauler on most highsec camps to get them off the hole. Similarly, we jump haulers around wormholes we know they will be seen in to get ppls penises hard enough to chase it.

A certain group was so obsessed with farming that we were SURE we would be insta rolled every time we rolled into them. We marked their hole on our siggy so we would get the tools ready to gank the rolling dread we knew was coming.

idk i hope this helps
