17th in the UK. Going to wait for the fuss to die down and only really watching it because the trailer was the first time that 3D effects actually worked for me.

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

My co-worker already got tickets for the premier for her husband and 3 of his otaku buddies. But she's still holding them, and she's using them to blackmail him until screening date. For example, today he has to drive across the big city at 10:00 PM to pick her up after the company holiday party.

(I should send her an EVE Buddy Invite. She'd fit right in with this crew).

Got my tix for the premier at midnight. I wanted to take my five year old son, but my wife threatened to leave me and call social services if I did. I thought long and hard about it for a week and decided that making my own coffee was too much like hard work, so I'm taking him after school.

I will be seeing it the 22nd. There was an article somewhere i was reading about the Imax? version. They filmed it at a true IMAX resolution but many theaters wont show it in that resolution. i wish i had it bookmarked to share.

I'm biting my tongue about discussing spoilers, but I'll just say that JJ Abrams decided to play it safe - too safe in my opinion - The Force Awakens is pretty much a clone of the original with a new paint coat on top.

Saw it at the midnight permier and I have to say I disagree that he played it too safe. The balancing act he had to perform was monumental, in not only catering for millions of 40 year old, critical hipsters but also presenting something eyecatching and engaging to a newer audience. I think he did it admirably even if it was a little kitsch in places.

Are there any books that were written after a movie was made ?
...
Lucas wrote the movies before even thinking of writing books, or of creating one of the most successful industries in film history. The original Star Wars was criticized all through production and was predicted to be a flop. Instead, its revenue skyrocked and allowed Lucas to continue with his story.

After the movies’ success, the original stories were written as books.

star wars.
they made the books AFTER the movie, i think, however, that they were made from many different authors. so there's really no AUTHOR of the starwars book, but, they guy who made the movie, something lucas, is the original creator of starwars.

...
This book was published about six months before the original Star Wars movie was released; at that point, the source material for this story in particular, and the whole Star Wars universe in general, was still somewhat fluid.
As a result, the story in the book differs slightly from the story that ended up in the movie in several ways, and contains some continuity errors in light of the sequels. By February 1977, still three months before the film was released, the novelization sold out its initial print run of 125,000 copies.[2]

I had a rare French version book of Star Wars with a landspeeder on the front page which is still hasn't been found back yet.
It may very well cost me over $200 to find it back.
It did obviously have an ISBN number on it, but since there are so many versions of the story, it is not going to be less work or effort to find it again.

(such as when Obi-Wan goes to get the droids, or R2)
btw, I still didn't include a quote from Obi-Wan which I recently found since I am still transcribing it.
It is not only a quote in itself, since it is extracted from a dialogue with an entity before a combat, with some after thoughts coming back to memory...
One more thing is funny since that, the character having after-thoughts has a special learning process, letting it learn from multiple source and assimilate the input at night during sleep.
(A bit like Ithorian speech , but in reverse...)

Yes, understandably. It's totally a girl movie. Even the captain of the storm troopers is a woman. I am just waiting for the next episodes where a sith lord, or lady, tells Rey that she is her mother and we get to see Jedi cats and dogs for real (or as real as Hollywood can animate them). Oh, do you know what "BB" in BB-8 stands for? It's "beach ball"! *ploink* *ploink* *ploink*

Just kidding. I think it is a nice shift from the previous episodes. If I wanted to see those then I would not need to see episode VII, would I?

Edit:
Also found some interesting fun facts about it already:

... James Bond gets mind-tricked!! Muhahahaa Lol

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Seen it recently and I was not impressed!

Seriously, I cannot name even one original idea, everything has been done before in one Star Wars movie or another, sometimes it actively felt like a competition how many references to the old movies one can get into the new one. I´ll bet we are going to see some totally not novel family relation relevation and redemption eventually.

That is not to say the movie is entirely bad, at least we got spared from ridiculous-looking "aliens" and little kids. Very rarely there is even some hint for the possibility of some deeper story though unfortunately that gets killed off real quick.

But hey, now we know that Chewbaccas bowcaster really has some punch, I guess that is nice....
