Old posses clutter up space

There needs to be a system that cleans up the large amount of posses that aint in use.

If a player finds a pos that is offline or active but no shield around, there should be an option to enable the pos to be shut down, unanchored and taken 24 hrs after "enabeling"....

When "enabled", the owner will get a warning and he/she/they needs to go to the pos within 24hrs to fuel it and put it online.

And if players aint removing the posses, Concord or something comes and blast them down after 3 or 6 months of inactivity



This would clean up the endless clutter in High, low and nullsec (and wormspace for that matter).

And it would also clean up those that "claims" moons by just anchoring a pos without using it.

It's not that hard to find an empty pos spot, you can even find some fairly close to Jita if you look around.

This is a signature.

Thats the issue... why destroy the controll Tower? why shouldnt that be able to be taken when you can "steal" all the modules? Steal the tower, use it urself or sell it.... recycling recycling recycling...

That aint the issue... the issue is all the offline and "empty" posses that aint in use... that cant be "taken" and reused or sold. Free moons are everywhere... Im thinking of the possibilities for players to clean up abit and make some isk at it....

And the pos owners that vigilant, can use situation to set up a ambush and snagg some kills

A little patience will see this issue addressed. The citadels will be replacing POS's in all sectors of space, and I would be VERY surprised if CCP doesn't remove all deployed POS's as the final stage of transitioning across to the new deployables system. With the citadels being rolled out next year with other deployable structures to follow, expect POS's to be removed after the roll-out is complete.

the only real problem i see is the taxing they put on the server which i'm sure is very marginal and stealing the tower is just kinda lame unless they make it require that the POS be inactive for a minimum of like 6 months before it can be stolen and create some kind of risk to the process of stealing it. even then kinda prefer they get destroyed in war dec's there are plenty of new towers hiting market already dont need to crash the market for those who worked hard to build them.

Shields should start degenerating as soon as pos is offline, we don't need free poses everywhere we just need it to be easier to remove something that someone left behind.


however i don't think ccp actually like changing pos code and avoid it if possible and seeing as these new structures are replacing poses i think they are probably not to inclined to be fixing poses in anyway unless its gamebreaking

I have a newsflash for you.
What you want already exists in the game, they call it a war dec and shoot the damned thing.
And the best part is this, if the POS is actually abandoned there will be no resistance to you shooting it so you can take your time, after all you have a week to get it done.

We will see what the future brings and how CCP will handle all of the POS that are in space active or not. But for now war dec and shoot the damned thing instead of crying about it. And yes I have been on more than a few POS bashes for both active and inactive towers so I do know how much it can take.

Burning down abandoned large towers by yourself is painful. It's a job for many toons, so you either multibox, and bring friends. And if you have friends, in ships, in space, you're better off going on a roam and shooting at people than a tower.

yeah i forgot about the citadel.... but to my defence... i treated the news about citadel as how CCP hyped up WiS... ergo i wont belive it before it is applied :D

But again, if it becomes so, my idea should apply to citadels too ;)

how will you know that the citadel is unused. The thing doesn't have a force field that shows if its online and for fuel that will only be required for certain things.

Assuming no force field so you can get at range 0, using faction ammo like this will take you to around 20 million damage done (assuming all V) before you need to re-cycle the guns. Depending on the total HP of your target, it might be worthwhile time wise.

better off using standard tech 1 crystals since they never break ever and if fit is cap stable u can let it afk all day i used to do that with a dedicated low sp alt in a geddon (later oracle) when the alliance said come shoot structures or be kicked from alliance and set red CTA active so i sent that useless alt to afk it lol
