I have posted and reported this in the past, but since you guys seem to be looking into the Mac client- I thought I'd post it again.

BLUF: I think there is an issue with the shared cache and wineserver process

Conditions: When running multiple eve clients on the same system. Quit one client and the other(s) freeze. You wind up using Force Quit to close the other Eve clients. Eve will then fail to re-open until you open the Activity Monitor and Force-Quit the "wine server" process.

This issue makes it necessary to for me to open clients that I will frequently switch chars on (like cynos, scouts, or research alts) on a separate computer from those clients that stay logged on.

This issue compounds itself with the Mac Client random freeze bug that I started getting a year ago (on the same machines that I had been bug free on). So, when one client freezes- I have to force quit all the other clients and reopen all. This is very time consuming when I'm running 8 clients on my iMac and had prevented me from doing anything serious in Eve for over a year now. I'm probably going to let my subscriptions on my 10 accounts lapse and just watch this forum to see if it gets fixed at this point.

This is resolved (mostly) with the new beta launcher. It has its own issues, but a bit less problematic across accounts.

I'll download the beta tomorrow and post if the issue isn't present anymore.

Even if you cannot get the beta launcher to work (it has its own issues) with the old launcher your problem is fixed using EVE clonemaker.

I've tried clone maker. I still get the client freeze and wine server force-quit issue.

I'd love to hear about any issues with the new launcher - hopefully I can fix them!

Before you make the switch, double check something.

Open up applications > utilities > activity monitor

Watch the processes. When one client acts up, close it, and see if the task 'wineserver' stays active or not, or how many are active when this happens.

Try the same with clone maker and compare. I've never had clone-maker work like that.

I've got one running in the other beta launcher thread.

Mostly the client freeze when closing IGB, and the multi-client login not working (not just the feature but overall).

Btw, if a client never logs in, or if you have multiple clients logged in, does submitting a big report pull the right logs or what? Since I have to close the running ones to get in I'm not sure how it works.
