So normally when I come back to Eve I do the SOE arc as a basic refresher, then go exploring in HS until I get my techniques down again. Work on Paranoia 101, etc. Then I go explore in LS/WH space.

So I'm at stage two, running Frostline sites. Skilled up a hecate, it was too slow, then jumped in a Dragoon, it was faster, Then Jumped in a Prophecy things were going just right. I'm pve fit of course because HS is the plan for the day. Then a proetus jumps in my pocket at starts hanging around. Just the two of us in system.

I thought I knew what was up, he was going to let me clear the room, then steal the kill. Someone else tried, but that's why I got the Prophecy, more damage, no kill stealing. About this time some other dude starts popping in-and-out of system and I think, but am too rusty to check, that they might be together. So the overseer arrives and he doesn't steal the kill like I thought, he went for the can and agressed.

I'm sitting there thinking, pve fit prophecy vs proteus, possible double-team. Pass. So I don't attack.

Of course he links a PLEX as the drop. So yea, /tear That was my best explo drop of all time, and I let it go.

So post action:
Probably correct decision.
No point, I couldn't pin him down. He might have been pve fit too, and the other guy might not have assisted. But I'm still super rusty on the basics, and a T3 should be about even for a BC, assuming equal skills. And my skills are still rusty.
I didn't see any proteus loses when I did a post-action check. But I should have checked when he jumped in my pocket as a reflex. I should have also checked the potential friend to see if they were on the same corp, and checked kms to see if they were on the same km if they were in different corps.
Dscan, yea, I didn't even break out the d-scan. HS, rusty, yadda. Should have had d-scan out to see what the friend was flying.

Maybe should have brought a mobile depot so I could equip modules specific to the enemy ship. It is not often that one has that much notice before a potential fight.

Better to fit for pvp after all, then If someone wants to play I can play right back.

Any way, anything else I should have considered? Thanks.

Tractor beam for the container.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

Welcome back to Eve.

Sorry to hear about the missed loot, lot's of unscrupulous people in high sec. Next time be quick getting the loot drop and warp out asap.

Hope you have much better luck in the future.

Basically you did good not engaging, my blood boils and i do exploration on pvp fits whenever i can however your prophecy pve fit wasn't gonna do anything to him , sure there some nice prophecy fits i would brawl a proteus everyday with but consider that he wasn't there for the frostline loot cause its shiit on average he was there to get you and the "elite" HS pvpers are always linked and blinged and ofc don't forget the ecm/logi alt. Also i don't really think a PLEX dropped (is it even in the loot table?) most likely he was just jerking your chain.

I believe it is possible, but am still a bit skeptical, no one I trust has said they have gotten one yet. and I very much believe they just linked a "plex" in local to jerk the chain and try and get aggression for the pvp kill.

Dropping a mobile tractor unit on top of the BC is a good idea, it will near instantly scoop the loot and no one else can loot the MTU. although they can shoot at it, but it probably shouldn't be deployed long enough for someone to kill it.

personally I just sit on top of the bc and am usually fast enough to grab it. you should be at least fast enough to open the can and see what was there.

I have only encountered this a couple of times. Both of which were 3/10 DED sites. I explore in High Sec, but there aren't that many people in the area at all. I like to look at the Map and use the various filters. Average number of players in the last half hour, number of jumps, etc.

Basically, my strategy is to completely avoid people, which, honestly, is very doable in this game!

It sounds plausible enough tonight, but wait until tomorrow. Wait for the common sense of the morning.

Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately, for some reason the BC has a very weak tank compared to the cruisers. So basically, he appears and dies maybe 3 seconds later, where the cruisers take about 15 seconds or so. So he appeared and died, and was looted before I could target the wreck to tractor it in. It popped right on the proteus so there might be some way to tell where the BC is going to appear. Prophecies are not very fast compared to t3 cruisers, especially with the 1600mm plate.

I like the MTU idea, coming back I forgot they even exist.

I did consider that the PLEX was a bluff to jerk my chain. Tears are currency in pvp after all. But considering my luck with the loot fairy, I just assume that the one time I get a break it would be something I lose immediately.
