UI Overheating

Isn't this just an argument for setting guns at whatever the over-heating value is

in much the same way as BOGOF raises the questions of why you don't sell the product at half price

There is supposed to be a risk of burn out if you overheat the module

Swapping MWD out for the module being overheated.

That would be the worst thing ever, because hearing it would be of no use.
It would be seriously distracting and take longer than simply looking.

People hearing it would STILL look at the indicator, making the audio completely obsolete.

And besides that does it take far more time than a simple glance, which means it's horribly inefficient.

Immersion is irrelevant when you want to kill your opponent ... or don't want to get killed by him.

I normally dual box pvp and sometimes tripple box pvp. Audio would be great. A simple glance for a single box dude is reasonable. If I'm chasing down a falcon w/ my orthrus on one character while hammering on primaries w/ another character - I'd appreciate Aura giving me a heads up from time to time.

Audio cues are awesome when managing multiple characters.

Having the green light blink to indicate a status change after the current cycle would help a lot too.

I think.

Or, you know, it could be terrible, since you might glance at it while it's toggled "off" and try to turn it back on or vice versa. Yellow or orange would be better than blinking....like a traffic light. Blinking is always bad in twitch combat. It's a bad idea on the overview too.

Lots of unnecessary trolling in this thread for a system that has a ton of room for improvement. Show me someone that hasn't accidentally toggled on their heat because of the lag in the UI and I'll show you a liar.

how about they just blink at different speeds?

e.g. double the frequency: fast -> phase to OH, slow -> phase out of OH

Should be easy enough to implement, no problem with color vision deficiency, and it shouldn't bother the pilots who don't consider this change necessary....

Indeed. As someone who does a lot of PvP all I want is clear information at a glance, immersion goes out the window. Some of the best pvpers have every graphical setting set to low except for the level of detail to identify weapons.

There is literally more information available than a normal persons brain can assimilate in a pvp situation, the less external clutter such as poor UI and irrelevant bells and whistles the better.
Truth. Too bad CCP doesn't seem to get this as evidenced by the new map/probe window and the new icons.

I'd like it if, in addition to the color options you presented, when overheating the color would pulse rapidly.

Might be nice to have Aura say a few more things that could be switched off by default, and people could hunt through the settings and try them out. I know there's a certain Aura saying I'd like to have back...
If you're talking about the one where she insults you the first time you die, then it makes me wonder if there is a way to disagree with you more than 100%.
