Freeze up during combat

Greetings All,

So, everything seemed to be working just fine during the trial period and I was impressed enough to do the upgrade however now whenever I enter in to combat (assignment from an agent) the game freezes up then my machine locks. The only solution is to do a hard reboot. Since I remained in space when I was offline, upon my login I found my ship had been destroyed. To make a long story short I submitted a ticket and the GM was gracious enough to restore my ship and some of the equipment.

Now I have an assignment still open and I can't visit the area without the game freezing. I got another assignment from a different agent but I have the same problem, freeze ups during combat. Somehow I was able to finish the assignment but now I'm concerned about future issues.

Has anyone else had this problem? Nothing has changed other than the upgrade; worked fine before and now there's issues.

I'd really like to get a solution to this as it almost makes the game unplayable.

Thanks

What are your computer specs, and what are your graphical settings in game?

probably worth running the repair tool, and/or verifying your cache files.

I'd try scouting out some locations with a rookie ship (leave your current ship and go dock up in another station and you will get one automatically)

Wierd. Sounds hard to track down. Some things you can do to narrow things down, go into settings and set graphics to performance. If the problem goes away then it is a graphical issue, so turn stuff back on until it comes back and you'll know the culprit.

There is also a chance that it is a download issue. In the installer check the download all resource files, that way it won't try to dl stuff on the fly.

And definitely use the repair tool as suggested above just in case.

That sounds to me like a problem with your system and not the game.

About a year or two ago I had an issue with my gaming laptop not being able to play games without locking up. Since I don't really game on that system anymore I did not worry about it but my anti-virus (AVG) offered me a free 24 hour trial on a system clean up service and I ran a registry clean up and now I am able to log into Eve on that computer which I have not been able to do for a long time.

In the past things that I have found which have caused locking up and crashing issues have also been hardware related like dirty heatsinks and bad capacitors.

My troubleshooting process with things like that is to first open my tower and make sure my heatsinks and PSU are reasonably clean. Then I try some system clean up tools and if it's still giving me problem I'll do a fresh install of windows and if it's still not right then I'll start looking for hardware issues.

It's not impossible that it is a problem with the game but typically if Iit were then you'd be able to find someone else with the problem in the "issues, workarounds and localization" section of the forums. Sometime a google search of your issue can help also.

I'm not a computer repair technician or anything I'm just a gamer that likes to fix my own stuff so take everything that I say here with a grain of salt.

I find it's a good policy to reformat once a year.

Hardware/local software issue ,
I've been getting stuttering and freezing also but only for a moment or two and never needed to reset.

Amd just had a driver update so I'm pretty sure that's my issue

Either that or my machine caught the potato blight.
I am in Ireland so it's a possibility What?

I was thinking more of psychological issues when faced with combat (''the freeze"), but...I guess hardware/software problems are viable too Big smile

I did a repair as suggested and although I'm not sure if it helped or not I was close to doing a reinstall when I decided to browse through the options, specifically the graphics. I reconfigured them to boost performance and wouldn't you know that fixed it. Although everything is now too smooth at least there's no more stutters and freezes. Time to bump some sliders up a bit and see how it goes.

Thanks all for the replies and advice.

See ya inside.
