Proposal: Cov ops ships have AoE module that remove ships from d scan

So the Anathema, Helios, Cheetah and Buzzard are basically just used for probing and moving along silently. Why not give them a more interesting role by adding another highslot, remove their useless DPS bonuses and in exchange allow it to fit a "d-scan nullifier" module akin to the deployable we currently have in game. Two key factors to keep in mind though:

1. The cov ops ship will STILL be on d-scan. Otherwise you're just going to have wormholers run sites with these and any time probes come out the whole krab team can vanish.

2. D-scan capabilities of those inside the "d-scan nullifier sphere" also cannot use D-scan. You have less players using d-scan so you limit incoming intel as well as outgoing.

Tech 1 version will render the cov ops ship immobile while the Tech 2 version will allow the ship to move as well as warp with the module active. (sp00ky drops to be had)

So you're asking for a ship version of the Mobile Scan Inhibitor?

The description misses some differences but yes. It'll have a module that forms a field, sort of like a hictor, with the d-scan effect.

Would ad some very fun "Oh ****" moments when someone warps to a gate-camp with like 16 sabers and an Anathema

I think this would work very well in WH space, but in k-space you can see in local what's coming......

that said - this could indeed promote some VERY fun things....
what if the module also removed those in its influence from local too?

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

Well we should probably gas local over all. But i'm not sure CCP could make a module remove someone from local. #JustLegacyCodeThings

Add in a large sig increase so that you can be found via probing easier, or that ships are still visible to probes despite being hidden from D-scan and I would approve. Though it would still need some balancing as to the size of the bubble and perhaps even velocity penalties for when the module is active.

Really like this idea, but it needs fleshed out a little for the obvious "OP" potential of it.

What happens if there 2 of them?

If this was bubble form where you hid within the bubble I would vote yes and only for null and wh space like regular bubbles

Jove wormhole pops open, kills everyone.

It's a balancing mechanism.

Remember that the mobile scan inhibitor forms an obvious beacon that anyone can warp to. So you can hide what you are but not where you are with it.
If this was a new module that cov ops or some other covert class could fit that had the same beacon effect and hid ships, sure I've got totally no issue with it. Should use fuel of some kind obviously. But the ability to have it move with a roaming fleet would make it see a lot more use I'd imagine.

It would actually be clever if the module version camoflauged the Cov Ops using it as being a mobile scan inhibitor and not a ship. Else everyone would avoid it for obvious reasons.
