The irony here is that you don't realize how bad Eve is actually doing and how close it is to dying off.

How young are you? Games for PCs came out with motion gloves, head sets, wheels and foot pedals, joy sticks and game pads over ten and twenty years ago.

Haven't read them all but there are a lot of different articles and videos:

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

Yeah and we all have these don't we? It's the impact on society that makes a gadget not who made it first. You think the iPOD was the first MP3 player?

Wait what?
Selling the game is a sign of a bad port?
EVE is available on Steam — does that make it a bad port too?

Haven't you heard of shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield? They both suck in my opinion but you can't deny there is a market for games like that now.
The issue is that that market is now much larger on consoles and that they've decided not to go after the EVE players, because they already have those customers.

CCP is making an MMOFPS on the PS3/Vita.

SOE is making an MMOFPS on the PC.

COINCIDENCE??? You decide.

Uhh yeah, sure. That was mainly a stab at Skyrims crappy port coming from steam. Just a joke you see? But yeah, steam sucks pretty bad just in general as well though.

I think the only reasons consoles have had some success is because they used to be cheap, any idiot could plug them in and use them and they helped combat copy right problems.

However, in this instance, it is an online game so needing to log into the servers are already one major form of combating piracy, which makes using consoles fairly null and void.

Strangely enough, one of the best FPS games, Descent didn't require more than a mouse and keyboard. Lol

Edit: Not to mention that when PC players emulate a game and log onto the console servers, they utterly slaughter them due to higher accuracy and greater intuitive movements from the mouse. Blink

Weeeeell… the timing of the announcements made it seem like they revived Planetside to compete with Dust, once CCP had announced that they were making it (think: “wait what? they're doing that? hmm… maybe it's time to try it again if those nutballs think it's worth investing in”). It wasn't until a year or two later that the final platform(s) were announced.

Even jokes need to make some sense — that was just a complete non sequitur.
…unless you were just attempting to be absurd.

Pff! Mouse? Descent was best played with both hands on the keyboard. P

Console piracy is actually very big. But yes price is a good point for them.

If the PS4 and Xbox 720 (or whatever) have versions without removable media I wont be surprised and I also would put money on the fact that the next iterations after these wont have them for sure.

Everything is moving to a "down the pipe" delivery, look at Onlive. Have you also seen RemoteFX from Microsoft, compact discs/DVDs/Blu rays are all redundant when cable is more widespread.

Dust can give birth ten days after being born, and is born pregnant!
Dust is born white; its pink feathers are caused by pigments in its typical diet of shrimp!
By tradition, a girl standing under Dust cannot refuse to be kissed by anyone who claims the privilege.
Thirty-five percent of the people who use personal ads for dating are Dust.
You share your birthday with Dust.
Dust can't drink - it absorbs water from its surroundings by osmosis.
Dust can pollinate up to six times more efficiently than the honeybee.
Dust has four noses!
The water in oceans is four times less salty than the water in Dust.
Scientists believe that Dust began billions of years ago as an enormous ball of dust and gas!

So which part of the body is it again that is responsible for taking in data and processing it into something sensual? You may need a replacement if yours isn't performing at it's best, it was pretty self explanatory.

Yeah, we saw how good that worked for WoW! Having to connect to a server on a console is waay more secure than doing it on a pc. There's just too much control on PCs. Everything's too easy, including bypassing game security. If your games popular enough someone WILL eventually get those server files. The only way to stop piracy and private servers is to make the game so big your average kiddie can't support the server on his crappy machine, like Eve but considering Dust is going to be a console port it won't be very big at all.

What does PS3 have to do with it?

... the server side of the game... the more complex it is the harder it's going to be for the average skid to run. You'll get it eventually, don't worry.

Consoles are way different, and so is the mentality of console gamers. Also, windows 98? It's not that old is it?

You see the main problem with the 'It's not the same audience DUST is persistant' arguement is as soon as other companies see the oppurtunity they will jump on the bandwagon. How do you think DUST will do against COD or Halo when it's only unique element has been copied.

The irony here is that you don't realize how bad Eve is actually doing and how close it is to dying off.

Once upon there was a game called Tabula Rasa.

It failed within months having been the most over hyped, under delivered MMO ever.

Eve has been around for the better half of a decade and will be around for much longer.

the end.

And here's hoping CCP releases another WiS expansion soon, so goons and testies can rage quit and make new eden a better place for all.

As far as Dust goes. If CCP put the continued long term development wheels on Dust as they have with Eve since its inception, Dust will only get better with age. CoD can suck it.

Eve is about Capital ships, WiS, Boobs, PI and Isk!

News flash:

CCP is using Eve subscriber money on a new game, when that game goes under, so does eve.

Also, long term dev doesn't really go together with console gaming.
