...that depends.. do you plan on AFK mining regularly in anti-tanked mining barges and assuming that highsec = safesec? I think we all know your answer here.

Yes and no. Depends entirely on what you watched on Netflix and whether is was worth a mack and pod. If it was Jessica Jones, then it was worth it. David Tennant was absolutely amazing in it.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I once came across a guy who had two hulks and an orca in the field at the same time. He would leave the orca to mine in a hulk, then leave the hulk to pick up the jetcans with the orca

You should do that, OP

From my personal experience, the gank rate has been 0% for the last 9 years.

If you do decide to do this, OP, let me know the time and place and I'll come stand guard for you to stop any gankers.

Shouldn't need any guards. It was a 0.5 system, so CONCORD will protect them.

I will offer my services to sit next to the operation in a pod with an alt capable of flying an orca, just to have extra eyes on intel channels

Frankly, I value the suggestion of reviewing CONCORD Killboard Page the most. Just strolling through the recent kills, I think, the pattern is pretty obvious. I set each of these players, corporations and alliances to terrible standing. I also avoid the systems listed like the plague.

Yeah, these players move around to different systems, but there are plenty of systems that they don't visit because they are relatively inactive, actually. The EVE universe is big, I'm sure we can all find a safe isolated corner of the galaxy, curl up with a good mining ship and extract some ores.

It sounds plausible enough tonight, but wait until tomorrow. Wait for the common sense of the morning.

Probably best not to waste their time if no actual forum rules have been breached. They're busy enough as it is...

Is Ginnie an alt...Yes. Do I only use her to post to the forum...No.

However, she is strictly industry and a little mining from time to time. At this point, she doesn't get a lot of action because I'm just improving blueprints.

Has my main ever posted to the forums...No. I really didn't get into the forums until recently and didn't notice for a while that Ginnie was set as my default.

It sounds plausible enough tonight, but wait until tomorrow. Wait for the common sense of the morning.

Pretty close to Jita there, OP.
Any system more than 10 jumps from major trade hubs, mission hubs, low/null entry systems, FW hubs and COSMOS hubs and you can mine AFK forever.
During wardecs, even.

While you were gone, a boyscout group rolled in by the name of CODE. though instead of selling cookies they slingshot Void charges in your face. The only way to avoid them is by using a Skiff.

No.

You can easily avoid them by not being afk.
By paying attention.

Skiffs and Procurers are for those who rather sacrifice their liberty for the illusion of safety.

Don't forget that the prospect is a very awesome mining ship also, even for a frigate.. it does rival the mining capacity of barges, and due to its small sig radius and fast subwarp speeds, its nice to orbit at 10km and just mine.... plus it goes to warp in around 2 seconds and can use a covert cloak at any second (assuming its not locked by rats or players)

The endurance looks great also (even for ore mining) due to its role bonuses (although from experimentation.. I do believe there is a bug with those bonuses as they don't seem to be applied??.. still needs confirmation though) Smile

Just find a better place to mine, replace your MAC with another MAC, then turn on netflix and enjoy your game.
Ignore PVP trolls, which means don't chat about it.

quiet .5 systems are everywhere, just check dotlan.net

The farther you are from trade hubs /action the better.

In addition to the suggestions above (at least the ones not posted by gankers) be sure to set "CODE." to terrible standings so you can see if they enter your system. Also check a killboard for any other gankers that operate in your system. Over time you will see that gankers send a non-affiliated scout into your system first to create the warp-in. Set standings on those characters too.

If you're operating in a quiet system you can CNTRL-A in your overview list to hightlight all the characters in system -- this makes it easy to identify when someone new arrives.

Lvl 4 mining missions are an AFK friendly activity since you don't have to switch rocks all the time. If you're after the ore, some people mine inside of regular missions to increase the difficulty of gankers finding you (google it).

If you don't have expensive implants you could mine using a retriever so that you don't really care if you get ganked. If you have expensive training implants it's best to use a skiff.
