Unfortunately, I am somewhat short of salient solutions here, however -

I do believe that there may be a missed opportunity for CCP to make some money, particularly during holidays and birthdays, from non-gaming, old fashioned, and.. computer illiterate friends and relatives wanting to do something generous for some of your customers.

I understand that there are various gametime packages, codes, and whatnots available, but they don't really meet a few requirements which any retailer would strive for.

  • Easily Accessible

  • Your list of retailers, with the exception of Amazon, are unknown, sometimes sketchy looking vendors to people that arn't already involved within the Eve community. Objectively, I would never encourage my computer illiterate relatives use and submit any information to most of those sites.

  • Clearly Defined

  • To someone that doesn't play the game, the products available are not easily discernable, I don't know a Rifter from a Caldari from a PLEX. Do I purchase an Industry Package, 2 PACs, 2 Plex, 2 Months of Gametime, or 2110 Aurum?

  • Easily Consumed

  • Again, using Amazon as an example here, because it was the only vendor listed which my relatives could have potentially used - Instead of providing a code which they can then forward to whomever they like, it instead requires an Eve Online account be tied to it.

Granted, this potentially isn't a problem, but there are silly traditions, like, gifts being a surprise, and people not wanting to just give gift cards, which interfere.

Potential Solution

I don't know what the details are with your arrangements with you retailers, but if there was a method where *old-fashioned-inept-computer-illiterate-70-year-old* could put in *tech-savy-eve-player*'s email address and easily select a gift of plex, or gametime, or aurum from a professional looking trustworthy site and send it off, you would have at least been able to capture a few dollars from my relatives this year, which you missed out on, and I'm sure I'm not the only one with silly family members.

This would also create a service which I am sure would find use by others for other holidays/birthdays, not just the example above.

tl;dr

Please consider making it easier for everyone to give you money. The fewer clicks, questions, and stumbling blocks between you and the process button, the better.

This is a good idea

One of those credit card gift cards one sees in supermarkets would be ideal - and might drum up new custom

I would absolutely buy PLEX/Aurum from my 7-11, and I bet I have friends who would too. EVE is the only game I play which I can't use cash if I so choose. Have to put the cash into my paypal-exclusive bank account and yadda yadda fees yadda verification.P

(Also hey that USD exchange rate sucks, but it doesn't stop every other service on the planet from sucking up the difference and sharing the merchant fee love. Fozzie knows what I'm talkin bout.)

Do not actively tank my patience.

GTCs bought from third party retailers.

Seriously, they send a code to an e-mail address, so very easy to buy gametime for someone, as long as you know their e-mail.
