The biggest problem for me is the rift itself. I'm not paying facebook for anything, ever. So unless it come out on the Vive I won't be getting it for the PC. If it comes out on the morpheus it all depends on how much other use I'd get out of a morpheus.

That said I haven't really paid enough attention to Valkyrie to know if it's worth it. Like is there progression or anything like that? It's not an MMO in itself I don't believe. What makes it better than something like Elite? I've played the demo at fanfest, but I'll definitely be waiting until other people have played the full release and confirmed it's not terrible anyway.

I vaguely remember that Valkyrie is an Oculus exclusive, but I could be wrong as I do not want to bother researching at the moment.

Anyways, the whole anti-Facebook thing is dumb as the device will have no relation required to Facebook.

Also I bet you are angry at FB for requiring real info without ever trying a believable fake name and posting information not actually valid.

I might be biased as my Facebook stock is up 40%.

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

I tried a VR game before, and it was a pool game or some other game with a 3D visor that was over my eyes with 3D effects in the lens. This was in the 1990s.

I also tried holographic games where the display was not mounted on the head but on which you could put your hand through the image and it would still work.

This could be used for other control activation (the hand location), but in that game it wasn't used for controls.
This was around the late 1980s, early 1990s.

I can link the holographic game system, but I don't think I would find a link to the first VR set game.

Computer systems were not half as good as they are now, even if that may be exponentially true.

1) to the vaporware argument: WoD was just not gonna work how ccp wante dit to, this happens. Dust is profitable. Gunjack is out and is rather fun to play, though simple. EVE is profitable. Legion is.. well we dunno.

so that means 2 profitable games, 1 selling well, 1 vaporware, 1 we dunno. Thats a rather good track recored

2) Valk is Vr only, said many times, and rift exclusive. However, as this is the damn pc, i'm sure someone will find a way to play vlak on any head set you want.

3) the 'if ccps support of there other games is any indication" comment... they supported eve for years, and years. The decided, wisely, to convert Dust, which at the time wa snot profitable, to the pc, but have sense stalled. Id rather a game company learn form mistakes and correct them, then plow on ahead blindly.

I will be buying a rift day 1, cause i'm loving my gearVR

OMG Comet Mining idea!!! Comet Mining!

It's not dumb, I simply don't trust facebook as a company, certainly not enough to shell out that kind of cash, and especially when a company I do trust is releasing a competing product. Valkyrie certainly doesn't grab my interest enough to ignore that and invest in an oculus.

The future of gaming is the holodeck

No!
No holodeck needed for Chess or UNO.
Boardgames still exist.

On the other hand: Hearthstone is a card game...Shocked

I am very impressed that CCP make a profit from both of the DUST players. Smile
